So yeah…

I smacked the ironman bumper like an idiot in Colorado this summer and bent the thing up into my fender.

It happened mostly because of my ignorance but my fender was slightly caved in already so when the bumper moved upward, nothing prevented it from doing so and it twisted.

The pinning bolts sheered off so i replaced those with grade 8 hardware and recently welded the bumper to the winch mount. I’ve since smacked it slightly less aggressively and it hasn’t moved

I just now beat the sh*t out of it with a sledge hammer and got it to sit around where it should.

Not bad for how it used to look. Definitely annoying but i have only myself to blame

I contacted Ironman to tell them about it for others’ sake to which Bubba replied “yeah that’s a first.”

I'm running out of storage space so I'm going to start posting photos a lot more haha

January 2022:

I had a leak coming from inside my cowl. I thought it was just the condenser panel leaking but the water dripped down on the passenger floorboard from the blower motor. Took several days to find the leak.

Motor removed, the intake doors showed signs of water intrusion

Water flows beneath the cowl around the raised air intake. The foam seal around the intake had disintegrated.

I removed my fender to get a better look from the side (I later installed a snorkel...while you're in there)

It's rather difficult to visualize but the water flows around the raised dome shape. There's a foam seal where the dome attaches to the body at its base.
That's where the water was getting in (one year later and it is not leaking).

Cowl leak part 2

Using a Dremel tool I cut a hole in the cowl right above the raised intake.

Here's a photo of the raised 'dome' intake. You can see the wet doors and the foam seal around the perimeter.

I blasted the entire area with white flex seal (thanks Phil Swift).
I probably went overboard and definitely should have prevented it from dripping onto the doors.
I had to crack the doors open with a screw driver afterward.

A lot of very ugly dripping (see pool on cardboard)

Drilled for the snorkel using the included template. This is an eBay snorkel ($75) and I did have to cut out a slot for the antenna in the template.
A careful observer will notice the silver aluminum plate I sealed into place with FIPG over the cowl hole.

Cowl leak part 3

Test fitting the snorkel. Very small gaps. I've seen worse.

Coated the patch with clear silicone. One year later I have no leaks!
Eventually I should probably weld in a patch

A-pillar holes drilled and POR15'd.
I attached the a-pillar bracket to the snorkel and held it up to the pillar. Used a sharpie to mark holes, triple checked, then drilled.

Bracket riveted in

I wonder how common it might be for this platform? There has been a lot of complaining about cold air leaking through the air blower motor or the area behind it! Perhaps this would help cure that too!

January 2022:

100 Series snorkel installation

A-pillar bracket sealed with white silicone (rivets were also sealed over)

Chaos. Rubber air tube installed in place of OEM intake

I'm sure this will make someone angry...I sealed up the drain hole in the air box. I have a dome-style pre cleaner so my thought is that if water gets in my intake, I will have much bigger issues than worrying about it being able to drain...

Re-installed cowl (had to buy new fasteners since they all broke).
Also installed the 'Antenna Source' solid antenna since my old mast was broken.

Interesting. I honestly haven't been paying attention to the 'ongoing discussions' but I would imagine the foam around the intake doors is very brittle given its age...

SPC upper control arms removed. A lot of people have had premature ball joint failures but my problem is the adjustable camber nuts.

Every time i’ve taken my truck offroad one of the nuts has shifted (thereby shifting the camber of the whole assembly).

In other news, I accidentally bought UCA poly bushings instead of LCA poly bushings

The good news is, I ordered the correct frame and LCA bushings. Just waiting for them to arrive

I was able to press out the frame bushing using some threaded rod, a ball joint press kit cup, and a spider gear from my blown diff

Nicely done.

On those SPCs, I had the same problem early on as well. You need to torque the s*** out of them. 150-175 lbs. I've not had that issue since.

Mine were torqued to 250 ft lbs
