Couple quick videos while I was doing some last minute tuning. Engine work starts tomorrow!!!
Lots of people asked for videos. This was best I could do by myself and not much room to get off the rev limiter in first gear.
Outside of the boot "kit" you'll need 2L of gear lube, a new OEM differential axle seal, new axle end snap ring of the correct thickness, a new locking tab washer, possibly a thrust washer. Depending on the condition and proper/improper removal...
I wanted to share that three of my closest friends and COTR Trail Leaders, Matt Huey (@DeuceDeuse13) , Shawn Pugmire(@Noble Oak) , and Aaron Thorne (@aaronrules) are active military or veteran. I'm honored to have these men as friends and proud...
Your starter is prob fine- it’s up high and in the back so that water cresting the hood prob didn’t get to the starter- if you kept moving.
I’d check the engine bay fuse box and relays for moisture and also all ground wires leading to engine...
Hey Joe-
The platform has pros and cons(like everything we mod on these trucks).
PM Jason he’s probably got a few sets of mounts laying around. The platform I designed and the mounts Jason made for me is intended to securely hold my fridge with...

I just had these guys do some work on one of my old Mercedes. I just picked up a few weeks ago. IMO, the work is top notch and they're real body guys. They did some very impressive rust remediation/ weld...
4ft-lbf is not the final torque, it's the starting point. Many including I, read FSM wrong. Preload (PL) is the goal, not torque on adjusting nut!
When reading FSM, in the light of; "preload (using fish scale) is the goal". Which I shoot for PL...
While I generally agree with your comment, I suspect the the front driveshaft would be slightly less “dynamic” from a fixed transfer case, to a fixed IFS front differential, then again, I’d still prefer an OE/OEM solution.
This ^ 👍
“…… The battery must be disconnected, and more importantly, the ground clamp of the welder should be mounted right next to the place getting the welding on.“
People using electric welding on modern vehicles should know what they are doing. The battery must be disconnected, and more importantly, the ground clamp of the welder should be mounted right next to the place getting the welding on.
May be...
KIA U joints in a LC? I would never install those cheaply made Korean parts into any of my vehicles. You could have easly sourced OEM U joints or get the entire OEM drive shaft for like $300 during toyota dealer promotion. Besides, front drive...
Report back the result- are they vibe free?? Also are they greaseable, and do they have available shims (yokes wear with age and use and sometimes need different bearing cap shims) ? I
A note to new readers considering non Toyota ujoints- there...
Ebay can arrange international shipping labels for the seller, if the seller opts to ship internationally. Send seller an email and ask- Australian Post would be the most cost effective- (but slowest) option.
You can also check some of the...
My theory/opinion with the 100 series is 2 fold. (2 vs 4 pinion aside). 1. They come from the factory with less carrier bearing preload. So this allows for more deflection. 2. By the time a 100 series has 200k miles on the front diff, the...
Plating is handled with a Caswell Copy Cad kit.....1.5 gallon in our case. It’s a insanely long process to do it.....sonic cleaning, acid bath to remove plating, sand blast, polish on wire wheel, string up on copper wire, clean, quick dip in...
That is a very good idea, to see if a spark plug will hold in head. Since, what happens is they rotate out as heads & spark plugs heat and cool, expanding and contracting. At first the gasses escape past the threads, only a little while engine...
Having dealt with quite a few plugs that have come out and tryinging to reform the threads doesn't work which it looks like it would for you then we use timeserts. You are crazy to think about replacing that motor or even yanking the head. It...
IF you're worried I would see if you can get a better look at the exhaust valve before pulling the head. To do time-sert right and ensure you dont get any debris into the cylinder when cutting the new threads, removing the head is good...
