More fun things have been arriving.

New radiator, 3 core and a bit bigger than factory. Its a Frostbite FB192.

I started working on the install of the rear jumps. Unfortunately, the right side folds differently than the left, so they dont quite sit even. I guess that is Landrover for ya.

I love how cleanly the seats fold up, though.

20200918_171549.jpg

And the other side partially in.

With the parallel bars on the cage moved, there is plenty of headroom. The seats are actually pretty comfortable to sit in too. They work much better than the low benches for taller people.

New Corbeau seats also came. Brackets and 5 point harnesses are sitting at FedEx, cause they cant seem to figure out how to deliver to the house.

Those look great!

The difffent mounting style of the passenger jump seat was pissing me off, so I decided to change it.

The rotating assembly comes apart really easily, which is nice.

Here is how the seat sits now. It is the same as the driver side, and it looks much better.

The gap between seats is much better.

I then started working on the underseat storage and seat mounts. I want to be able to have storage for all my gear, and I decided to build the seat mounts around that. It's 100% removable, so if I ever want to stop running jump seats, I can pretty easily.

Here is the start of the frame. I'm using 3/4×3/4" 1/16 wall square stock for the majority of it.

The start for the seat mounts

Seat mounts mostly finished

All supports in, and mostly welded. I'll start skinning it tomorrow.

killing it! great build 🤙 now i really want a set of those LR rear seats 😎

Looking good. So on the seats did you lengthen the short one or shorten the long one? Did yours come with cup holders?

I moved the pivots on the long side, and extended the short side. I couldnt leave them diffrent cause it looked funny, so I made the pivots the same.

Thanks! The LR seats are pretty cool, but it does require a lot of modding to get them to work.

I got the box skinned today, along with a bunch of other stuff.

I really wanted to have a good, flat surface, so I really took my time clamping everything and tacking well.

Floor on.

A quick test fit before finish welding.

Floor holes finished and sealed.

Bottom welded up

Final fit. There is a lot of foot room, and a lot of space under the seats for my recovery gear/ survival kit/ tools. I'll make it lockable so it stuff can stay in there.

I also straightened the rear sill. Since i am using square, hot rolled stock, when I welded it up, it warped.

Here is how it was sitting. It was a little less than a quarter inch of warpage, or enough to make me want to fix it.

A notch, an oxy torch, and some bucket teeth straightened it right up.

The new radiator also showed up a while ago, so I decided to pull it out and look at how it fits.

20200920_135333.jpg

Everything has plenty of clearance, and the radiator fits right into the frame rails. I'll have to start looking at mounting options for it.

And finally, I pulled the running boards. This is another beat the PO with a brick scenario. He was too lazy to pull the 10 bolts to strip rust before he "painted", if you can even call it that. He used about a gallon of seam sealer on there too.

I hate my PO.

I had a little time to fart around in the garage today.

I got the seats assembled and stuffed in to start looking at how I am going to mount them.

20200921_140046.jpg

I then started working on the front bumper. It started as a piece of 4x2 stock, 3/16 wall.

20200921_151925.jpg

Cut off the corners and closed everything up.

20200921_164718.jpg

Shackle mounts tacked.

20200921_165001.jpg

And tripple passed.

I stuck it up on the cruiser to see how it looked. I like it.

20200921_171510.jpg

Looking at options for the mounts and winch plate. I should have enough space to shove the 8274 next to the saginaw box.

Usually with a saginaw conversion you can still fit the 8274 down inside of the frame rails and have your fairlead mounted on the bumper face rather than above the bumper. This is nice because it reduces the height the winch covers the grill airflow.

Thats what I'm trying to do. I think I should have enough space.

I got more done on the bumper today. This is going to be a bit of a pic dump.

Its going to be a close fit with the saginaw box and 8274.

I stuck some holes though and welded in some tube to help with the compression load on the bumper.

Holes cut.
