FJ40 (8/68) Tie Rod Ends Replacement

Should I replace the tie rod ends with the tires on or place front end on jack stands and take the tires off? I know to not touch the steering wheel while replacing the tie rod ends. Thanks!

You’ll get a better ‘hammer swing’ tires off

And before you start get toe-in measurements at front and back of the tires with a tape measure.
