Perfect - I love that you are replacing vacuum lines and getting it dialed in. There is nothing better than a stock 40. Yes, modified ones are cool too - but I've always enjoyed cracking open a Toyota service manual and what is indicated is what I have under the hood, down to the vacuum line. Enjoy this time. I remember this well. So fun.
I really enjoy the all stock OEM+ look and feel on all of my vehicles especially Larry. I’m not necessarily a “purist” but enjoy keeping things how they came originally and improving where possible.

Continuation of Vacuum Line Replacement: The broken VTV made me go a little crazy and then I ordered bulk vaccum hose from Toyota. There are different lengths available I think I used part# 90999-92004 and cut to length as needed. This was my first experience working on Larry and made me realize the engine bay is setup nicely for you to access pretty much everything.

At the same time I did the distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, coil wire, spark plugs and an oil change.I try to use OEM Toyota parts if there available or quality aftermarket if that’s the only option.I was digging around in the glovebox and found the original plug in work light and small can of touchup paint.

I’m in the process of replacing the steering linkage on Larry & I bought the parts from Toyota.

I’ve ran into a bit of an issue with the tie rod end & relay rod end. I’m not sure if there is an issue with the parts or if I’m doing something incorrectly.

The new relay rod end will not fit through the tie rod end far enough to put the castle nut on. If I were to place the relay rod behind the tie rod then there is enough clearance for the castle nut but that’s not how the vehicle was setup when I took of the original parts. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you!

Just refreshed the steering on Larry with a lot of new components. Tie rod, relay rod, & drag link with new ends. Drag link rebuild & center arm rebuild as well. I used OEM Toyota ends and they came with the rod assemblies as well which was a nice touch.

All new ends from Toyota & a JointFuji drag link end. Rebuilt the center arm with a JointFuji rebuild kit.

I plan on resealing/possibly rebuilding the steering box next. I have the OEM seals & an OEM rag joint in my parts pile.
Here are the Toyota & JointFuji part numbers I used:
Steering stabilizer: 45700-69015
Driver side tie rod end: 45046-60H01
Passenger side tie rod end: 45046-60H02
Driver side relay rod end: 45046-60H03
Passenger side relay rod end: 45045-60H00
Drag link to center arm end: 45047-60H00
JointFuji Center arm rebuild kit: ST60021
JointFuji Drag link rebuild kit: ST60010K
