Use diesel to flush. I've heard of a diesel and ATF mix, too. Straight ATF will be a bit too viscus to "flush". My guess is the left over fibers will just be pulverized into goo so a follow up gear oil change should be done after some driving...
Looks like a ground interruption switch--disconnects battery from ground and stops thieves as well as slow electrical drains. We use them on campers and tractors a lot.
I heard it, you're not crazy, but I can't imagine what it could be. I don't think it is inside the engine. You could try a squirt bottle of water and after it starts hit the fan belt and pulleys to see if it goes away.
I suspect they are tempered steel because 1. I had a bugger of a time widening one to line up the bolt holes, and 2. mild steel would serve no real purpose as a bumper unless is was intended to be a crush panel.
A $50 Facet solid state fuel pump will help a lot and give you redundancy for just in case. I also added a large reserve fuel tank under the rear deck with a diverter valve and the electric pump can also be used to move fuel to a can or vehicle...
Looking closely at the oil slick I see a hairline of what might be a crack reaching down to the web in the casting. It looks like it is weeping oil. If you click on the pic you can zoom in and see it better.
Does the pump need to be primed? I used to have to crank and crank and crank to get fuel pressure until I added an electric fuel pump to the line at the lowest point before my mechanical pump. I switch it on for a few seconds to build pressure...
I used to have a similar problem and used one of the black handles that $OR sells. It almost lines up with the holes in the top, I think made a minor modification and it fit. I've since eliminated the problem, but left the handles in...
I like the look of a topless FJ40 with only the lower portion of the early doors--no window frames. I would love to find a set of decent lower door panels and remove the glass, frames and regulators. The old door is just the right height for my...
We move a lot of tractors and farm equip and found a trailer with 9000# axles is only a couple hundred $ more than the smaller 7000#, they are stouter built, and the electric brakes are a must. A lighter aluminum trailer with higher capacity...
