100% complete! Love the 2uz and it’s a beast off road!

It’s 99% complete and I can drive it! Now I’m into the small things to make it more enjoyable/user friendly. Probably going back to an open rear axle.

Several years later and one more kiddo and I am finally in the midst of a 2uz swap. Motor is in the vehicle and I’m in the process of installing the new harness.

I’ve dreamed about installing a 2uz in my 40 since I first started reading the build thread by @jetranger. Well just recently I stumbled across a 100 series for sale, and I decided I could buy it use the drivetrain and then sell the rest. The truck should arrive on Monday. Shout out to @geocruiser for the 100 series!

Now this will be an incredibly slow process as I’m starting a new job and my wife and I are about to have our first baby. All very exciting things!!

I’ll update this thread with the small projects I complete on my 40 leading up to and through the install of the 100 series drivetrain.

Here is a current picture of my 40 and the 100 soon to be on its way here.

I have no current plans to swap out the F motor in my '74, but if I ever wreck my 100...

I would have a very hard time sending that motor off to the junkyard. Good luck with your project. Enjoy your baby. The truck's not going anywhere. :)

Definitely looking forward to seeing this project.

Brian,
The 100 is heading your way! They didn't even have to put the ramps on, I just drove up onto the hauler.
Best of luck on the project!

Paul

Haha that’s great! Super excited to start working on this! Thanks for everything Paul

Unrelated to the engine swap, but I did finish installing the rear seats out of a 2007 Scion Tc into the back of my 40. Much more comfortable than the original seats and they have provisions for child seats. I’ll install the front Scion seats shortly. I think I’m going to build some sliding drawers to go underneath the seats.

Could an adult fit on those rear seats? I'm waiting for my cage before I install the seats, but I had considered a similar install.

Yep I’m 6’3” and fit in the seat just fine. I wouldn’t want to ride there for a long time but it works. I removed the rear heater today and it frees up some good foot space.

Good luck on your build. I read jetrangers build also, totally get the UZ bug.
I am hoping I can go see his cruiser soon as he lives near me. It's been tough with a new baby.

The custom drawer system that I installed in my 100 are still in it... you might be able to reuse the hardware or even part of the drawers/cabinet. I believe that I used 200lb drawer slides. It is all 3/4 plywood construction, with 1/2 MDF face.

Well the best laid plans don’t always come through. Shipper was supposed to deliver around 6pm or earlier today, and now they will not be here until 11-12 tonight.

Hopefully I’ll have a picture to update this thread tomorrow morning.

Edit: truck is in my possession as of 1:00am!

I don't know if it helps you. But if u have any desire to figure out a way to make it a manual transmission rig, you may be able to use the marine wire harness and ecm...

Yeah, I’ve toyed with the idea of the epic marine harness for use with a manual. I most likely will go auto for now, and I can always go manual when time/money allows.

So I followed a little bit of your wisdom. After one week of my new job (which I’m really enjoying) I decided I wouldn’t start to part out the 100 yet. I’m going to wait until a few months after our daughter is born. She is due end of December.

Last night I sold my DD (Mercury Mountaineer) to a 15 yr old who was crazy excited to buy his first car.

I’ll fix some of the issues with the 100 and drive it and the 40 to work. Should make for some good laughs from my coworkers.
