After watching teams drag unfinished cars to KOH and try to finish them on the lakebed, I can tell you, I would stay at home and finish before I went. Everything takes sooooo much longer when not at your home shop.

Tell him to make patterns of it all, I think we both stretched them 14".
He is working on it over the weekend and he has sewn most of it together already. I will be bringing it back later in the year for the rest and I bet that he could lame patterns then. I don’t want to push him any harder. He is already working overtime.

How soon do you want your top? It might be wise to see how this one turns out first?

Haha! Don’t worry. I have learned to not even change spark plugs at the cabin after breaking one of the boots and spending 2 days trying to get it fixed.

I will check it out at SAS.

The top turned out amazingly well! It’s not quite done and I’ll bring it back to have some more Velcro and snaps sewn in, but it will be great for the upcoming trip. Manny at EST. 28 Upholstery did an outstanding job.

Looking forward to seeing photos with the sides removed :cool::cool:

Can anyone recommend a high-quality u-joint strap kit for my corporate 14 bolt with a 1350 U-joint?

I’m using these strap kits that Tom Woods supplied and they have come loose twice and under 2000 miles. I am afraid that I’m going to lose my driveshaft while I am on my way to SAS. P.S.I am also running behind on my way to SAS.

I second the loctite. And paint mark for easy checking

The hardware looks old, replaced if you can source quality hardware where you’re at.
And Loctite & paint mark

It’s 1,800 miles old. I guess these aren’t Toyota parts? I expected to get at least 100k out of them.
They already look marred and greasy, here’s my new hardware on my new Tom Wood driveshaft

hardware is Toyota one trip to the Rubicon
Driveshaft took a beating

Did you reach out to TomWoods they have been very helpful in the past for me.
Although I’m not sure what they could do🤷‍♂️

Drill the heads and safety wire them

I put the welder away after I welded the air compressor bracket in. This is the last piece that I needed to button up before hitting the road.

Auxbeam sent me some free lights. They were too big for my fenders so I used them in the bumper. I’ll deal with the fender lights later. The running light turns off momentarily when there is a load on the system.
