Looking back at some you your earlier posts, went to pages 65 and 66 to look at your roll cage. Did you use BendTech to design the cage or just take some measurements and go with it?

DJ helped me with the cage and I don’t recall which software that he used. @DangerNoodle?

He used software on the a pillar and top. I don’t recall what was used on day two as DJ had me busy with the welder. He kept slinging tube my way and I kept welding it in! It was by far the best progress that I have made in a short amount of time with this project.

Designed in Solidworks and imported to bendtech.

I like it but what am I looking at? My only guess is swing away bumper but not sure…

ETA second guess, you’re building a new bumper over the original?

I am building a new bumper and tire carrier. I am tired of moving my spare around on the floor so it’s time to get it on the back of the Cruiser.

I sent you a motivational video tonite on Insta :steer:

I almost got the spare tire mounted today. I’ll finish that next weekend, then take the bumper off and work on the internal supports and additional mounts.

So far I am happy with the spindle that I got from Ruffstuff but I did not end up using their latch. I ordered a new latch from 4xInnovations.

I used the RuffStuff spindles on mine and they have been trouble free for my 35. Real sturdy. Gas struts for the final touch.

I’m glad to hear this as I’ve had a few different tire carrier spindles on this Cruiser and they both failed. I had a large bolt with some hokey box that I created around the last pivot point that worked for 25 years, but it looked terrible. This Ruffstuff spindle looks legit.

Where did you put your gas struts?
