According to my ancient media source the answer looks like a yes. It shows p/n 90913-04003 (crankshaft claw) for the period from 09/69 to 07/80. This info was current as of Jan '81. Applicable to F, 2F, FJ4# series and FJ55. It is always possible that p/n has been superceded after Jan '81. Now your bigger challenge is getting your hands on the correct crank.

That brings back memories of working in the parts department of a dealership many years ago. I guess as places went digital there was no use for the old micro fish, which would come in handy for a hobbyist. Very cool. My boys would get a kick out of that. I can't compete with that, but I do still have my Commodore Vic 20 and the single sided single density 5 1/4" floppy drive unit. I had to mow a lot of yards and shovel a lot of snow to buy that. LOL. Oh, and I think a Pong video game in the same closet.

I found a crank rod handle but after watching that video a couple of times (to enjoy the sound of the engine) it occurred to me that with my winch and winch plate in the front, trying to use a crank handle would be difficult or impossible. 🤔

Yeah some winches you cant use it ... i am running a Pierce worm gear winch that mounts above the bumper.... i have space between the lower roller and winch plate to make a hole to pass the hand crank through... i have the hand crank mounted above the roller fairlead as pictured here

one day iĺl be motivated enough to finally bore that hole lol

LOL on motivated to bore the hole.

You may recall from the early pics in this thread that my 40 had a GIGANTIC cattle guard type number (looked like a Ranch Hand we used to sell when I worked at a Jeep dealership) and I bought the 40 off of a ranch in Oklahoma. Not needing or wanting that bumper / cattle guard I bought a HFS Winch Bumper, before the thread posting of the original looking bumpers made to hold a winch, those look great. The winch mounts directly behind the HFS bumper, so I doubt I would be able to do what you are going to do. However, the hand crank handle I saw available is a short one, not like yours or the video example you posted earlier. 'Maybe' I could get it between the front of the crank and the winch, but reaching around back to there to use it might leave me stove up for a few days.

Carry jumper cables and forget trying the hand crank. There’s always someone(s) around in Florida. It’s not easy to hand crank a 6 cylinder engine.

Agreed. Hopefully if I go to my old fishing cabin in the backwoods of East Texas I won't ever have a dead battery out there because you sure won't get a jump start out there. Now, when I was younger, back there, if I had a dead battery I would push start my vehicle. But those pushing days are over for sure. I guess I could send Roadside Assistance a GPS location.

Wait a minute. Your worried if you and your wife can physically drive a 40, and now you want a hand crank?:). I'd suggest a AAA membership card might be a better option.
I understand the want, just for show.

@pb4ugo

Oh my days of hand cranking anything, including a lawn mower, are definitely over. My 15 year old, on the other hand, would be more than glad to hand crank it if we went on a fishing trip and had a dead battery. He does all the lifting for me these days. And, as previously mentioned many times, my hope is to someday give it to him as a wedding gift. But that also means that if my stocks perform well I will need to buy a 2nd one for my youngest son on his wedding day. I think it would be great to teach them to drive on a stick shift, like I did. And, someday if I give them one for their wedding gift, they could keep them and drive them, or sell them to have the money to put down on their first house.

And, as I said before, my wife says she is too old to drive a stick shift. But I doubt that in her prime she would have been able to crank start a vehicle.

As for me being worried about driving it, what I have said is that I'm worried that someday it may become too painful. That day is not here yet, although my wife debates me on that, as I sit here with a TENS unit on and popping pain meds, LOL. And this 40 is not "just for show." It won't see any shows. Just for fun, to remind me of my youth, and my grandfather, a couple of old friends that had Scouts and Jeeps, and going 4 wheeling and camping in Colorado with my dad including Black Bear Pass in Colorado. Black Bear was a memorable experience!

Tiny lithium jump packs that are under $100 easily jump start a 40

More than one person has broken an arm using a crank handle. Not trying to be overly dramatic but I wouldn’t have allowed any of my children to try it when they were 15. I would stick with the jump pack as @cruisermatt suggested. I also doubt once you drive a 40 around some that you will ever drive it to East Texas from Florida- but you might prove me wrong. Invest in a trailer and tow it out there in something comfortable to drive.

Not a bad idea, but our only other vehicle right now is a 21 year old Toyota Sienna minivan. While it is VERY comfortable to drive & ride in, I'm afraid if I put a trailer hitch on it and towed the 40 behind it, I might have to give up my man card. 🤣
