It appears you have the stk frt end with a disc brake conversion with probably 60 knuckles. The brake lines appear to be 40 stuff from 76 to around 78.
Does your rotor spin with slight resistance? If it's hard to turn or not at all without...
Mustard has been parked since my last update for a shop project. I finally got that out of the way and she fired right up this morning. Love this truck.
Just thinking out loud… Seems like your buddy or the shop owner would have to file a mechanic’s lien and follow to the letter the procedure in that state for establishing title in his name.
I sure hope your DUI distributor is/was not connected to the 18ga wire BY on the ALTERNATOR! That wire is way too small for that application. It should at least be connected to the 10ga BY wire that originally connected to your ignitor/coil...
is your starter shimmed or adjusted right. the throw out gear could be rattling on the flywheel. it does sound like an accessory/bracket though. the fan isn’t hitting the shroud?
I purchased my bestop back in the 80's and it came with threaded stud snaps. I was going to mention Sailrite too, they have pages of various snap type fasteners. I've purchased tools, parts and materials from them over the yrs. Some stuff is...
The Mules keeping some pretty good company. Beautiful “58”.
Winch plate is in place and it’s looking like a front end..I donated the “Engo” to a local homesteader for use around the farm. Looking at options in the Warn lineup. It’s a 200 meter...
Thanks. Just put 2 gallons of water in it and still not full. I’ve got to stop and get some more. I found a leak…believe it is the bottom of the radiator. Lower hose connection looks fine.
1st inspect for a blown hose or something. To diagnose the problem I would not put a/f in it. I try to avoid tap water because it has too many impurities in it. You can go the grocery store and buy distilled water for cheap, probably 4+...
I think stk fj40 shackles are approx 2 3/4 pin to pin. Any shackle dimensions over stk raises the vehicle by 1/2 that amount. Going back to a stk lenghth could hurt the spring if it flattens out and the shackle is too short.
I installed the shims this afternoon, and broke for lunch. The rig is still in the shop. Gonna re-jet the webber back down to sea level standards before I pull it out. I'll take it for a test drive, but I have never driven this particular rig, so...
I just went and measured my rear angles. I used the brake drum and unbolted the d/s from the pinion on the other end. It looks like I'm about 2-2 1/2" from parallel.
I've done my share of dumb things. But I have also seem my share of wrecked '40s. And talked with people involved with injury/fatality FJ40 wrecks.
I would not operate a '40 without a roll bar.
1 inch ANYTHING is not a roll bar.
I personally...
