Turn Signals & Side Markers
I'm on the superbrightleds website and I'm going to go ahead and order all LED bulbs for everything on my 1971 FJ40. I know mine only has the round red brake lights on the back and no separate amber turn signal, so I know I need to get the dual function bulbs so they will flash when I have my turn signals on.

Are there any other bulbs that need to be a dual function bulb?

The front turn signals, do those only come on when you have your turn signal on, or do they turn on solid when your headlights are on and then flash when turning?

Same question with the front & rear side marker lights. Do they just stay on solid all the time when the headlights are on, or do they flash when the turn signal is on?

Thanks for the help / info.

@charliemeyer007 - can you answer the questions just above? If so, then I can pull the trigger on this order. Thanks!

My OEM tail lights rotted away a long time ago. I have cheap square plastic Autozone ones that are about due to be changed out for like $30 for the pair. I like LED bulbs but upgrading them into old cars flashers is usually a PIA.

I saw that the dome light bulb is out of stock. That one I would strongly considered. I added led spot and flood 18W to the back corner and one for the rear back up light. Amoron/ebay for like $8 delivered - they do 10 to 30 volts and I try and buy IP68 real waterproof so to speak.

Which Lights Are Dual Action?
@brian or @Shark56 or anyone else that can answer this:

I'm on the superbrightleds website and I'm going to go ahead and order all LED bulbs for everything on my 1971 FJ40, like I did with my old motorcycle so I won't have to worry about bulbs going out. Having never driven my FJ40 yet, I know I need dual function LED bulbs for the brake / tail lights.

Dual filament for the rear.

The side marker lights do not flash. On with the switch

The front fender lights come on with the switch and flash when turning.
Also dual filament.

I have not converted my outside lights to LED. I have read that you may need some sort of resister to get the turn signals and emergency flashers to work.

Perfect! That's what I needed to know. Thank you so much.

Santa Arrived Early!!!
WOW WOW WOW!!! Santa Arrived Early today! My 200 watt Bluetooth car audio system arrived today from @thecrazygreek and this thing looks AMAZING!!! And the best thing is that it will be hidden behind the dash and use the 1 factory blank dash hole (remove the chrome plug) and look like a factory pull knob on the dash! I can't wait to try this thing out! And I did not want to cut my dash, so I really appreciate those of you who told me about this option!

So, if any of you out there have someone asking you "Time is running out, what do you want for Christmas?" this would be an excellent thing to ask for!

@thecrazygreek - YOU'RE THE MAN!!! 👍 👍 👍

When I installed mine (and not sure about your year if it would be the same) in got the connectors from Coolerman and connected it to the power to radio. My original fitting for radio was brittle/toast. So changed the wiring on the bluetooth power to match and made it easy.

That's a good idea. Unfortunately mine didn't have a factory radio. I wonder, though, if the wiring was all the same and if that connector is behind the dash? I'll have to take a look.

FINALLY Paint
FINALLY getting paint on it:

Finally making progress. This is not the actual Freeborn Red, it's just a red he put on to look for flaws and places that needed more work before spraying the Freeborn Red.

Its a body seam 1/4 panel to B pillar/door opening, that typically extends to the bottom of the tub. There should be 1 where the door and frt cowl meet too.

Thanks, I try to make it a little better when the account allows. I'm glad to see your finally making progress with color.

toyota is not releasing an updated fj40.....the ai stuff is going to really blurr the line between truth and fiction.
