Girl friend told me to ask where those pictures were taken. She obviously has a land cruiser trip in mind[/QUOTE said:
Top of the World trail , Moab Utah.....really is an unbelievable view, and an easy to moderate trail. Enjoy a mid-day picnic with your girl !!

Installed new jump seat straps from CCOT. It looks good, but it's not perfect:
1) For some reason nobody offers it in the original tan color.
2) Strap is a bit tight when fastened. It needs to be just a little longer
3) The chrome surround looks good but it's too thick, making it harder to turn to buckle.

Some interesting tidbit. I found the QA sticker on the back of the jump seat, indicating a date of "55.2.15". That's Japanese calendar year 55, which maps to 1980, and then you can see the Feb 15th. The date matches the production Year/Month shown on the door jamb. This is a "number matching" car!

And it's not just with Cruisers, but with any car. I have this '06 Cayenne as my DD, and the side markers don't blink. I remember when I first got it, I asked the dealer if there's a defect. The sales guy, who is around these cars daily, didn't know either, so he checked it on another car. That's when we both learned that side markers don't blink!

It's kinda strange when you think about it. When you're on the side of the car, you can't tell if the driver wants make a turn. Isn't that the whole point of having a blinker?

that's why I wired my front side marker lights as blinkers - still need to do that with the new rear marker lights

oh, and the 40 passed emissions yesterday :bounce:

after the starter had died right on the rollers and I had to do a go-around

Took the body mounts and pos body lift the po put on off. Installed new body mounts. Got windshield whipers working. Started digging into the wiring harness issues. Put on new bumperettes. :)

Drove it to work. 30 miles of Houston freeway each way. Easy 60 mph @2700 RPM. Temp never past the third hash. Sung the entire way (40 AND me)!

See...nobody makes things to detail like you do...guess you'll need to start making these straps, now, too...you know we'll buy them from you!
:popcorn::clap:

The last several weeks progress. Moved the front bumper back 3.25 inches. Contemplating hacking the ends off too.
Moved the roof rack forward to ease the stress on the rear suspension under heavy loads.
Had the truck up to 17,200 ft and it ran fine!
Installed HD anti-inversion shackles, thanks Chungas Revenge! They are great and help eliminate some of the So-Cal squat.
Installed new tie-rod ends, thanks SuperBuickGuy!
Re-installed rear seat upholstery and seat covers. Had them off to modify the seats to fit around the GNV tanks.
New alternator belt. The old one had done its duty. Forgot to take a picture.
New cheap knuckle seals, installed cheater way by splitting them. Just trying to slow down the grease loss for the short term.
Modified the GNV system again, hopefully the final time! This time it is the way I always hoped to make it and it works flawlessly despise the local nay sayers.
The radiator was on the edge after forty years of straight water and had some leaks that were slowly getting worse. I tried to slow them down and killed it dead...so today I got it recored, or re-paneled as they call it here. Probably not the highest quality core, but it looks solid. Should work, it's got four rows and they are not half plugged like the old one.
