You might want to slide the collar further down the tailshaft and take a closeup of the splines where the transfer case gear rests. That is the #1 wear point of the transmission.

Craig, if you can spray carb cleaner in the PCV (while removed from the truck) and hear the ball rattle, move on to the next thing. I haven’t gone back through your thread, but I assume you have the PCV hooked up to the insulator under the carb...

With the oil filter in that location everything needs to be clocked 60 degrees. #1 will be basically pointing right at the block, or a little bit past. And if this is an initial break in, I would clock it even more, so I could bump up the timing...

Hi ... is it Mark? That would be crazy if you knew one of the PO's. I bought it in the 2000's from the second owner who lived in Wisconsin and kept it in his summer cabin in Michigan. He showed me records indicating he bought it from the first...

Pay VERY close attention to the mounting point. The combination of weight, vibration and time often create multiple cracks around the four studs that secure the housing to the bracket.

I am still interested, but I’m having a hard time scheduling it in. The sands keep shifting on me, and I have no other business in the area at this time to justify the drive.

Chances are that a piece of debris got stuck between the needle and seat in the carb, causing it to flood. The carburetor should be disassembled and cleaned. Have them change the engine oil as well.

search the classifieds for some of the same or similar parts and then just put a similar price what you're willing to take. Start higher that way you can and will go down or negotiate with the potential buyer.

65swb45 replied to the thread Con-ferr question.
The transition happened when Pete sold the business to Maurice in 1998. Interesting side note, a local investment banker had a group of clients who were interested in buying the business, but only if I would be the GM. I agreed in principle to...

65swb45 replied to the thread Con-ferr question.
ConFerr actually had an earlier version of the bracket that was made of a lighter gauge of metal, but had a rolled edge to increase the strength, and were painted black. Speaking of painting, Jim from Downey once made me laugh when he reminded...
