Slick man! Those look great 👍

yeh thanks! It's the first time i've used the brake press on 3mm sheet and it came out alright..

Another set of body mounts fabbed, painted and tacked to the chassis

Yeh i need to shorten the bolts a tiny bit. Using FJ55 body mount rubbers.

Test fit the BJ73 90L diesel tank..

Plenty of room.. I also have a large truck air tank I want to run (along with a 2nd battery) in the space in front of the tank. The tank out the rear also suits the body supports to mount the straps onto for the tank.

Slick!

I had to look it up, almost 24 gallons, that will get you down the road a ways.
Im hoping to also fit the main tank from the 80 series next to the gearbox. But will need to finiah body mounts and mock the engine and gearbox firat though.. if it fits theres another 90l

If you can get the 80 twin tank filler to work in the stock 55 location it would be a neat solution

Ive got one to try and fit.. not sure if i can keep the exisiting flap. Having a flap release in cab would be nice.. im guessing with 180l and an estimated economy with the 15bft of 12l/100 , I should have about a 1500km range..

Today I got about an hour on the creeper doing some CAD work for the next set of mounts. I managed to get them cut out just before dinner and this evening got them pretty much in formed up..

I'll probably have to drill a hole to get the brake lines through.. still figuring it out.

Got about an hour in the shed today to potter around and make some cad templates of the next two sets of body mounts.. and then after an early dinner i got permission to cut them out of 3mm steel.. which turned into another hour bending and bashing them into shape...

Got the rear most body mounts fabbed, painted and tacked onto the chassis,, rubbers are tightened up.

I basically cut the top off the rear most 80 body mounts so i could use the rubber and fabbed a new lower section that kinda outboarded the body mount..

I feel like with your pictures anybody who wanted to could put an 80 frame under a Pig!

Edit to add "anybody with time, money and talent!"
This doesn't look like a project for the faint of heart.

True, but this knowledge makes the project much less scary.
Seems like the 80 frame swap is becoming more common. I just met a local guy with a 12HT 60 on an 80 frame - Boss!

Looks great!
How much of a body lift did you end up using?

I only gave the body enough lift to clear the chassis.. it seems the lowest part of the body is beneath the 2nd row seat.. I had to raise it enough to clear the rear shocks where they bolt into the chassis

With the body clear of this section by using blocks of wood to space it up, I then only had to make sure the sills were parallel to the chassis rails..

The 34" tyres with the diffs on the bumpstops also dictate the body height.. i think there is about an inch or so clearance at the moment.
