The orange/red is AUS (ROW?) spec, super rare here as you have seen by the price
Pretty sure my Yemen connection has the orange/red if anyone wants a set. Might be the entire assembly though.

I am so humbled by how generous all of you FJ55 lovers are with parts and knowledge. I am very happy I joined in on the Preservation Society Group. You all rock!
You won’t find a better group of enablers than right here.

Any updates Drew? Was thinking of your 55 this week as I spotted one very similar at a jobsite, same color too, my favorite. Not sure it was for sale tho, will have to check back to see if it's still sitting there in a week or 2.

We are cranking on a few other projects on a beat down 100 series first, then flipping it, THEN using those funds to have fun with the FJ55. Stay tuned. I have been driving it, cleaning it, and taking notes of what it needs as I go.

Well, I'll get pics up soon.

The boys met the 55 the other day. We've been working on a 100 series but got as far as finding it had a dead cylinder so we are going to sell it and dump the cash into the FJ55. The plan for the rest of the year is... resto from the frame DOWN.

We are going to park it in the shop, pull off everything below the frame and clean it up and rebuild it.

So...
  • New brakes all the way around (likely swap to disks up front).
  • New suspension (Likely OME)
  • Powder coat the wheels (field trip to the powder coaters)
  • New tires (looking for a 33/35x10.5 ish)
  • New tie rods
  • Power steering swap
  • Rebuild the winch
  • Go through and rebuild both axles
Likely we hope to...
  • Pull, clean and regasket the engine
  • Swap on an Aisin carb for the 1F
  • Maybe a 4 speed swap (I have one in the shed)
  • Pull the Hone overdrive (it isn't working)
  • Put in some bucket seats
That is the official plan. This week we are building work tops to set the axles on. Should be fun.

Take a look at the Dobinsons suspension. If you go OME you will have to relocate the rear, rear spring hangers. I wouldn’t consider anything larger than a 33” tire FWIW, especially not with a 1F. I just had my rims powder coated and went with the Kenda 33x9.50s. No road experience with them yet but they get good reviews.

I love it!

X2 on the Kenda 33x9.5. I would try those.

And we’re off!

At least with what this forum cares about. The pig is officially under the knife and at the mercy of 13 high school boys.
