+1 on West Texas Off Road. Super quick turnaround and quality work when I sent in my mini-truck box.

The only part I got today that I’ll actually be using on my build is the steering box, and that’s iffy, considering what it looks like.

Why not just keep the Scout box?I am open to suggestions.
there will need to be some box repositioning to avoid the Scout Box mounting holes/sleeves. The steering shaft coming from the column will have to be refabbed anyways since it was setup for the Scout box.
I actually hadn’t thought at all about changing pitmans, not really familiar with what interchanges with what.
This looks like a lot of work for a steering box because it’s a Toyota thing.
The Scout box has a good reputation and I wouldn’t step over one to pick up a 60 box, with that said I wouldn’t hesitate to use a 60 box if that’s what I had.
I would buy a part from Toyota and take a picture of the red and white Toyota label on the bag next to the OE part to post in your build thread and ask the fanboys to give me a pass on the steering box.
It is getting hard to find cores due in part to their popularity, if you have a box I would send it to a reputable re-builder. You should have it back before you need it and should last the life of the pig.I thought that I may have read that the Scout steering boxes were getting hard to get.
Unless you have lots of time, money and talent, trying to listen to Scraps will only end in heartbreak.Yeah, better not listen to me.![]()
