I have some free time this week so I decided to try and tackle on of the rust spots. My rear 1/4 armor bot bent up into the body ripping open the 1/4 panel, that along with these rust holes and the exhaust right under them I was getting some pretty harsh fumes. I am not a big rust repair/bodywork guy so I figured I'd give this area some attention since none of it is really visible.

Only have a few hours into it so far, hopefully get it finished up by this weekend.

Rust was creeping this way a bit too.

Pretty damn good for a “not much of a bodywork guy.”
What a relief to not have those gross fumes coming in while you wheel.

It's not done yet :D

This mornings progress

I just ordered new OEM bolts and nuts for my body mounts. What is happening to me o_O

this must be what happens when you look at @bottombracket threads for too long.

Now, start taking pictures of every single hardware part number, and you’ll descend right into madness like me.

This is great! I have to do some work on that part of my truck too. Great to get a "cutaway" view of what's actually happening in that area. Bookmarked for future reference.

Got this section done tonight! I'm pumped. I'll be honest I was a bit nervous approaching this project as I have only a little bit of experience with rust repair and sheetmetal like this. I think it came out pretty good. With a bit of filler it could be perfect but it's good enough as it is for me and my intended use.
My roof is getting pretty bad but other then that this was the only real rust on the truck as far as I'm aware. I need to work on the other side a little bit as the gasket lip is rotten in one spot and the lower part is starting to rust, but it doesn't look nearly as bad as this section did.

While I was working in that corner my buddy Austin @Slow85 came over and started working on redoing my 1/4 panel chop that got all messed up. It's going to be a lot better then it was when it's done.

If anyone is parting out a 60 or is storing sheetmetal, I'm looking to replace this section if anyone is able to make a cut. If i can't find anything in the next two or three days I'm just going to cut this off and try to fix what I have like Jim @CenTXFJ60 keeps telling me to do.

Matt, look up Jonah, he seems to have a few 60’s he may be parting out. He has a really cool YouTube channel as well.

He wants $200 for one so forget that I'll just fix what I have

You’re cutting and welding anyway. For $200 you can straighten that panel pretty quick once it’s off the truck.

it's not like I can make it any worse 😁

Todays work. Thanks @CenTXFJ60 for making me fix what I have. Going to have one of my friends work some magic with body filler over this and it will be pretty nice until I smash it off road again!

So you cut it off and beat banged it back into shape and welsed it back into place nice work never seen someone do it like that but makes sense their genius 👏👏
