Dan,
I saw your post on thrust bearings thread and thought I'd ask on your thread... Being that there are different tolerances based on brands, I have a few sets as I was trying to figure out the thrust issue with mine.
Happy to send some main...
The problem is that the thrust bearing at number 5 the bearing was not at the right tolerances so as it would thrust back and forth it wore down the step up to where it is actually cut into counter weight to the depth of the step up. I will find...
Hey Dan, I know this is frustrating news but sounds like you have some options. If none work out let me know. I have a 2F crank sitting in my storage cabin. Glad to get my machine shop to take a closer look at it should you need me to.
1200 mile trip this weekend for ONSC Carolina Relic Run.. no issues at all other then two injectors becoming unplugged for some reason, and the turbo is still dumping oil. Nothing that actually required any wrenching on the trip.
I actually...
Will be in a container. Luckily my guy in Wuppertal is going to handle the heavy lifting on the importing process, and I have to say, I'm happy just throw him my money at him for handling that.
That's great to hear and it all felt kind of fated...
Finally got to run Pritchett Canyon this trail is very difficult and technical.
We started with 8 Regs unfortunately, at the first obstacle our trail leader, Justin snapped rear axle on his built 40.
The rest of us went on the run trail without...
You’re in good hands with Daniel behind the wrench on this rig. Live just down the road and been to his shop many times. What a story and definitely understand the sentimental value. I checked out your truck when I was there last month. Look...
Been some time since I posted anything. Just racking up miles. Got 2400 miles logged this week, Flagstaff, Heritage Museum, and stopped at Cruise Moab. still got another 1200 miles to go before getting home.
Lastly was new wheels and tires, went with the same thing as before, Geolander Mt in 37x12.5 on 17” Toyota steelies. Had to get new rims since my last set was so beat up from rocks that the tire guy wouldn’t touch any of them.
Holy cow, soooo...
So I have done nothing to literally nothing to this truck since October when I fixed the brakes, and only driven it a few times since I picked up a more comfortable car to DD.
Even though I completely went through everything before my...
@CenTXFJ60 This is really inspiring man. One day I might approach some body work, but frankly it scares me. Seeing these photos makes it feel more withing reach. Mason's truck is gonna look great when it's done too. I've got some photos of it...
I took the block, crank, cam, pistons and connecting rods to a machine shop to get measured for new bearings. Cam bearings, connecting rod bearings, thrust bearings etc. The machinist said that I am probably going to need a new cam because there...
I’m guessing @landsnoozer is never going to make a build thread so I’ll continue to park the updates here :). Shot the roof/hood today. Lots of dust bunnies and an ok spray job. 4 coats of clear so we have room to address them after the paint...
I am happy to take the glass out again if I go down that route.. but I am very much tending towards stick on sound deadening (neatly cut and applied).. I want to put an overhead console in and having access to the roof space to apply rust...
