I’ve decide to go with a different direction on my 40 build. Selling the rolling chassis as is. I will not part it out. Here are the details:
- 1973 Fj40 chassis stretched 12”
- one ton axles from a Ford F-350 with trusses and high steer on front...
Steering is mostly done. Ifs box is mounted and plates welded in. Just need to finish welding the steering stabilizer mount. I had bought a frame mount kit originally so I modified the brackets to work with mounting on the differential. Threw the...
Here’s more photos of the bottom of the brackets. With the seats mounted and me in a. Comfortable position, I have about 4.5” above my head. I’ve also smashed my shoulder and head on the door getting in and out due to the side bolsters.
@xychromosome came through in the clutch for me and sent a very detailed video of everything. will be very helpful in the decision making process.
Thanks everyone here for the help and offers.

Cruiser, not Charger. Oops. I’ll keep it for the next owner. The person I bought it from installed Mastercraft Courser MSP 235/75R15. I think that’ll fit in the spare tire spot. The Snow Cruiser is H78/15.
So the bumper is all cleaned up to the...
I had a chance to throw the seats in, the brackets aren’t the best imo. I’m going to have hell getting all the bolts in and it makes the seats tall. I’m 5’ 6” and sit pretty high up in the truck with them on the seats. I would say they aren’t...
It's hard to find details on some of the shocks that will fit these trucks. I'm hoping this will help others make decisions in the future. All measurements are approximate and in inches.

I haven’t tested them yet but the build quality seems good. I’ll grab some more photos of the brackets tonight and get them installed on the seats to test them a bit.
I swapped the fitting on the end of the hose and it's a perfect fit. I like it tucked in like this better than the way I had it. I can't leak check it until I get the cab back on.
I pulled the passenger side caliper this afternoon and smoothed the surface around the port. All I really needed to do was knock the rough spots down with a file. Then I went over it with a couple grits of credit card diamond hones I use for my...
Thinking about getting a different Corbeau seat and seems to make sense to use their brackets. Have you had a chance to test the brackets? Fir well? Feel sturdy?
Got my new seats in. I have a feeling I’m going to end up returning them, the side bolsters are too high and it’s a pretty tight fit. They claim up to a 42” waist and I’m at about 32 and there’s just enough room for spreading the legs to avoid...
you get a new bracket with the big brake kit. your knuckles have to swap sides
i would probably replace the spindle.
myself and @aztoyman had fitment issues with skys brackets, so it might be worth an ask when you tt them
Last time I did the brakes on this truck I put the pads on wrong so I need to replace the rotors due to the hat being grooved pretty good from the squealers. I decided to take things apart tonight and figure out what setup I had done and a lot of...
I've bought 4 different Toyotas from Hendrick. They are good folks and they have a few guys that are LC guys. If someone else can't do it before Saturday, I'll gladly swing over there for you.
I had some time on my lunch today so I removed the torque rod bracket from the frame and started test fitting the box. I think I’m going to reuse the one factory hole (I’ll drill it out and sleeve it with the reinforcement kit). It feels pretty...
Thanks. Shocks aren't my forte, as you can tell. I've really only dealt with OME or dead factory shocks in the past. The OME shocks come with a big zip tie holding them closed and are a nightmare to compress by hand.
