Also I don't think I actually ever put good photos of my rear bumper after I finished it in May? Anyways here it is (well this is when I first painted it, all the paint is now removed from the entire underside of it. Bumper doing it's job good on rocks)

Started working on the frame extension boxing. These holes will get sleeved.
The Bridgeport my dad and I set up makes drilling holes like these a breeze.

Partially true, it could be a 2J head in which it would be worth probably four times as much.

Got my bumper mounts and winch plate all done yesterday. I sleeved every hole because why not. That took some time mostly because I had to drill the 5/8” tubes out to fit 1/2” bolts. If anyone wants to see the fixture I built to do that I’ll post it up , I didn’t take any pictures of that..

Anyways here’s some pictures

I’ll post a picture of how it looks with the M8000 on there later today.

For comparison this is what was on there before. I took 4” off the front of the truck with the new mount and cutting the valence panel.

Good stuff. I would like to see what you rigged up. Half the fun of these projects is the stuff we devise to get it done...for me anyways.

In that case, you’ll find what I built today far more interesting (I forgot to take a picture of the tube drilling jig).

Today’s mission was removing the 5th gear off my NV4500 mainshaft (the 5th/reverse gear on the countershaft politely removed itself). This is by far the most difficult part of rebuilding one of these units.
Now, two years ago I went through this, broke several gear pullers, and finally brought it to a machine shop and had them pull it.

I wouldn’t admit defeat this time.

So I built this using the mill:

Which turned out to be a fail. I should have built it out of steel.

So, after pouting about how many hours I wasting in front of the mill, I entered a mechanical rage and welded some square tubes to the gear and whacked them with a sledge hammer until the gear stubbornly relinquished its position on the main shaft.
Replacement gears are inexpensive and readily available.

Objective complete.

Nice work! Lets see some more front bumper tube bending.

Winch plate looks sweet! Your before looks like what I'm getting ready to try and do.
Did you just upgrade your winch cuz you had the chance or would the badlands not fit back there?

My Badlands winch quit pulling weight. Dimensionally pretty much the same as my M8000.

Nice man hope you don't mind if I steal these pics to use when I get to this project on my list

No problem. let me know if you have any questions.

NV4500 apart on the bench.
Rebuild Take #2.
