Within the next 2 weeks I am looking to buy a 40. Would like a 74 to 78 but will consider older ones. I'm only going to have 3,00 max to spend so I don't mind one that is beat up a little.
Location: Memphis, TN but will drive roughly 6 hours in any direction.
Pickup Means: I will bring a trailer to take the rig home.
Use: Off road, not an extreme crawler by any means but will be used on larger rock trails and hopefully never come close to lots of mud.
Wanted condition: I will use this thing off road and have no plans on restoring the body to 100% but don't wont a rust bucket either, must have solid frame. Engine can either be a 2f or conversion but needs to be sound. Something that will get me from the trailer, through the trails...
Unfortunately, I was just forced to resign from my job. I am looking to sell my 1978 FJ40 project that didnt even get really started.
The body is in OK shape, but has rust. I have removed most of the rust and primed, with the intention of repairing the holes. The rust is in the typical spots. Frame is in excellent shape.
Motor. The motor threw a rode, shortly before I bought it. The owner used the vehicle as his daily driver until it broke down, not even 6 months ago. I have a replacement motor that is included in the sale.
You can see the rust spots that have been worked on. Some bondo has been applied to pitted, but not rusted through areas.

I'm selling my FJ40, i've owned this rig for the last 10 yrs. Tub is clean, title is clean. Spring over, FC traction bar, flipped springs for more wheelbase, 350ci, with jet performance 650 cfm carb, shorty ceramic coated headers, flowmaster, 79 landcruiser front axle, 411's front and rear, welded in the rear, th400 tranny, shackle reversal, roll cage(not shown in pics), rocksliders, FC extending shackles, hurst shifter, procar seats(need reupholstery or covers, or just run em), exide sealed gell cell, 15x10 black steelies w/33 boggers(that have seen better days). I know i'm forgetting some things, but i'll think of them later. This rig runs great, about 30,000 on the motor if that. The tranny was entirely rebuilt about 15,000 miles...

For Sale 1977 FJ40, 4" Lift, 33" MTs, 4.10, Lock-Rite (in box), Warn 8724, Spare axles, spare trany and t-case, spare drive shafts and berfields, weber carb and original, lots of miles. I do not have the time to mod it anymore and to have it sit in my garage for another year would be a waste of a great cruiser. Incredibly clean frame-off FJ40 resto. A lot of work went into this. LHD, rebuilt 2F, 3 speed. I've never seen a cleaner frame. Hand-restored in SE Asia from a military-spec trucks that was in a warehouse for most of its life. New headliner, all new roof and door seals, new hoses all round, front discs, new tires, new signals, stainless hardware etc etc. Shackle lift.

SOLD SOLD SOLDPRICE LOWERED TO $8500. w/o diesel.i am selling my 1979 FJ40. It is original except for the weber carb and a stereo system. The wheels are original with 33x9.50 BFG's. These tires only have 600 miles on them. Comes with an extra set of 8x15 chrome aftermarket wheels. Also have the original carb, extra distributor, tool kit and factory door mount mirrors. 2F engine with four speed. 3:73 rear and front disc brakes. Quarter panels were replaced about four years ago by previous owner. i replaced passenger rear door but have the original that has some rust at bottom edge. It has 84,127 miles now. i have owned it for two years. Like most Toyotas it leaks a little oil in my driveway. Not enought to have to add any oil since oil...

I have a 74 landcruiser that i got but have lost interest in it. it has a 350 chevy with stock toyota 3 speed and stock toyota transfer case.
i put on a brank new best top soft top. 4" lift, bilstein 5100 shocks.
it also has hard doors and half soft doors. body is pretty good, i have seen worse for more then what i am asking.
i am in the middle of installing a sagnaw power steering conversion on it, i have all new parts from downey off road. am about halfway done.
i have fender well headers for it. it has recaro suspension seats and the rear jump seats.
i may have missed stuff. front fenders are off right now as it makes it much easier to work on it.
it has 31" tires on it...

Hello everybody- i have a 1973 fj40 landcruiser i would like to sell. it is in gloucester, massachusetts. the frame is good ( as far as i can see in the rear wheel-wells) body is 87% ...rough patched holes and rough older primer job. has 35" rubber (goodshape) saginaw(needs buttoning up) . all mechanical drivetrain good. needs complete brakes and exhuast with a "go over" to run. very good starter project. was fun offroad. was stored in barn for last 10 years. new edelbrock carb(ten years ago no use). also have extra sides to hard-top with glass(curved rearsides), front and rear axles(drum) and tranny/trans(3spd)
*****SOLD************This truck has 68K original miles. It is all stock other than the wheels:frown: It has one of the cleanest unmolested 2F's I have ever seen, it is still 100% smog compliant and is VERY strong! Typical rear tub rust. I sold my fj so now I guess I will sell my rc crawler. It uses AX10 axles, 180 oz high torque steering servo, Mamba Max speed control that you can program though your computer, 35 turn lathe motor Futaba 2 pl radio, 2.2 mudslinger tires that have been cut down to a 1.9 wheel (looks like boggers). It has a fj40 body but for an extra $60 i can get and paint another body to match your wheelin rig. It has four links front and rear and wheels like a mother comes with batteries and charger . Not sure if I'm asking too much or not. Cant get it to shift into 4wd for some reason (2wd works and truck starts and drives), will negotiate on the price due to current condition.

Owned lots of these and swore I would never sell this one.
Almost everything done/new. This is not a recent frame off restoration, but a frame off from a few years ago or a more recent frame-on restore. Driven on a few Sundays, and to local car shows and then back in the garage. Few blemishes (not perfect) on paint & light surface rust on leaf springs & hardwear. Has nice older Kayline softop and doors. Engine NEW with less than 500 miles. Radiator, brakes, hubs, clutch, hoses throughout, interior all NEW, tires are less than 100 miles.
