yep that piece bolts to the frame under or near the riveted frame mount for the engine
that bearing is the same one that mounts under the rad on 40 series
if it is hanging up at all, change it out, it has been a few years but there were reports in the tech section about the doors being broken from limitors being stiff.
no bumper spacers on a 55 winch head
the bearing is the same on the driveshaft but as stated by John above the driveshafts are different between the 55 and 40
IIRCC the frame mount on the 55 attached below or very close to the riveted frame motor...
did you happen to try the pilot bearing on the shaft before installing in the flywheel?

are you using a lifting device? trans may need to angle up, down or sideways slightly to align

Turned out that everything was totally aligned. According to ARB instructions “use a light tap to insert the axles”, we did persuade the axles with some soft hammer taps and they seated fully. Thanks guys.
