Moving on to the the stuck in neutral issue.
There was no boot on top of the shifter. Water naturally made its way in. This FJ40 came from a ranch, so it likely spent some time uncovered in the elements.

If it runs, try whacking on the lifters to crack the valves open and let compression/combustion blow threw the seat area. It can blow off crud build. I use a lead hammer and strike in the line of action. If compression #'s go up it worked...

One word of advice. I used 1/4" round bar to line the front fenders of moonshine in the last round of body work, about 5 years ago. They've been great and rigid, but there is rust forming between the 1/4" round bar...

Budget doesn’t allow for new wheels which are really thick. These spacers are 1”.
Have you tried the open “tuner” lug nuts which pass through the wheel to pick up more threads on the stud?

Have a 62 fj45 if that’s anything you’d be interested its not a 40 but super fun. I Have to get serious about selling off some of the fleet for future projects.

Working on a lot if little things this weekend. I got lucky on the T-case shifter. I bought twin sticks years ago. Not sure what kit I got, but it is missing parts for this. I cleaned and installed the stock 60 series shifter. Made. 1/4"...
