I can't believe I'm actually doing this but, unfortunately the time has come for me to give up “The Beast”. The economy hasn’t worked out for me and my wife is due with our first child in April. She calls the FJ “my baby”, so I guess out with one and in with another. This FJ drives like a dream and sounds even better, she is rock solid and the V8 is music to your ears. I cruiser her down the highway at about 70mph with one finger on the steering wheel. Nice FJ40 trail rig for sale. It has a strong 2F with Weber carb, header, GM power steering and altenater. Transmission is an SM420 with 7:1 first gear, stock t-case with twin sticks.
Spring-over axle suspension front and rear with shackle reversal in front. Lockers and disc brakes on both axles. Tires are 37" Boggers with most of the tread remaining on custom beadlocks.
Custom front bumper set up for Warn 8274 with stinger and custom rock sliders (not pictured). Also has 6 point roll cage. Body is in great condition for a trail rig. Hard top and doors included.
I am in need of a DECENT daily driver. I have been driving the FJ40 for about 2 months but the summer heat here in Phoenix is getting to be a bit much.
The truck has the 2f, 4spd transmission and xfer case. Runs excellent, and drives well. NO top or doors. New clutch last week. All and all, a solid, un molested truck. PM me for more pics, questions.

Its on craigslist for to much for the general populous. I'm figuring after I get all the body work done ( repairing the major rust areas) It will be worth 6500ish (shooting high). Its in the 1st stage right now.. of the body resto.... ih8mud discounts :) This is a daily driver. Everything is good and solid... just want something bigger .... so no I do not want to trade :) I have put ALOT of TLC into this rig and it is mechanically sound and my daily driver for the past month now. Spent 2 months downtime in the garage...
Now considering a trade for older kawasaki or honda cb's, something that would be a good cafe racer platform.
De-rusted and lightly modified with trimmed rocker panels and front fenders, currently has 30000+/- miles on original transmission and transfer case (speedometer stopped working within 100 miles ago).
The truck now has a Ford 302 V8 that was installed when the original owner threw a rod in the original inline 6. The V8 runs but has some low compression and is a little tricky to start, will need some work. Still has original 4 speed trans and transfer case, 2 wheel high works and drives, will not shift into 4 wheel high/low (no cracks in case).
What has been fixed or replaced:

I purchased a 1979 FJ40 from California with the intentions of a frame-off build (not a restore because of intended mods). That's when life got in the way.
My vision was an FJ40 with the modern conviences, such as the 5.3 V8, rear disc brakes and power steering.
I have purchased almost all of the parts needed, it just needs to be put together. I will not be able to make the committment to do so in the forseeable future.
The body is in very good condition with minimal rust. The guy I got to do the minimal body work and paint screwed me over though, and I ended up having to go and get the body from him after 1 year at his shop.

I have a 1977 Toyota FJ40 for sale. I purchased the truck from Washington state seven years ago. The truck has around $10,000 invested in work since I purchased it. It is mechanically sound and runs and drives great! Information below:
-Tan in color with desert camo exterior
-3 inch lift
-interior almost perfect
-full roll cage
-almost no rust at all

jump seats are not installed but come with truck as well as...
So I bought the 70 as my daily driver and that's what it is now. I love it. Plan was to use the wife's SUV for my long trips for work. She doesn't like driving the 70. Says the shifting is too weird and it's too slow (she has a turbo Volvo)
So here I am.
I have a pending offer on the 40 so that might be off the table soon.
I'd like a newer diesel Jetta or Passat but will entertain other cars for a DD. MUST get good gas mileage and not be a shoebox (no Yaris, etc) I like diesels but that certainly limits me. I usually drive to NY and VT regularly. need to drive to Chicago soon and highway speeds in the 70 is too slow (60-65 mph) for very long trips.

1977 Toyota FJ 40 60k miles
It was purchased new by my father in law. It runs and passes emissions. Has a/c and all the parts are there but the a/c does not work. I have the hard top and doors with it. No rust. It's never left Phoenix. My father in law gave it to my son, he's since gotten sick and can't work. I'm selling it and giving him the money back. It has less than a hundred miles on the tires. I just rebuilt the carb from sitting, put a new fuel pump on it, new fuel lines and a new gas tank. It's 4x4 of course and will crawl over anything in low gear. It also has a three inch lift. Tires are 33". The winch needs the motor rebuilt.
Miles are 60767. It starts and runs perfect.
