I forgot we did this too. This is the original crossover pipe from my FT, it was obviously an EGR engine originally. Not anymore so we cut that parts off and capped it. This is what we call "quick & dirty" which just means fast but not pretty.

I don’t think I will have an intercooler right away when we put this engine-Cruiser back on the road. So I will use this until I put an intercooler on it.

The Black Box allows clocking of the tcase which we did. This allows for a really flat belly.

Frenched into the frame, we may do more.

Pushed the front axle nearly 2” forward.

Making the trans crossmember.

Pretty close to ride height here.

I cut the stock H55 trans crossmember mounts off the frame. After that ran them through the sand blaster in prep for welding back on the frame. The trans crossmember moved back approximately 12” from H55 to H152. 😳 We were going to use a stock Land Cruiser trans crossmember but in the end it would have been to much work and been weaker than what we are building. The Cruiser will also be getting full belly skids in front and behind the trans crossmember. 💪🤩👍

We are building our own “pumpkin” side leaf spring perch. On any Land Cruiser that you spring over you will encounter this, we are freestyle fabricating as we go!!

We ended up having to use the 1HZ engine side hard and soft engine mounts for the 1HDFT to drop on the stock HZJ77 engine mounts.

Dayum. It's taken me 5 years to rebuild my 70 and Ian is knocking this out in 3 weeks.

Hello,

As the saying goes, sometimes nothing goes according to plan; however, never forget the objective. Especially when life gets in the way.

On widening the front axle..

Was it required to widen both sides or were the sleeves used on each side for the 80 knuckle ball fitment? If that is the case I assume the long side was cut short to keep the WMS width to match the 80 rear?

Thank you for taking the time to post this build. I’ve learned a lot just reading along.

Yes the 62 axle tubes were cut to match the sleeves so that the end result is 80-series axle width. Which is 63” wms to wms.

Trans mounts welded on and trans crossmember is done.

Got hubs on the rear so put the 38’s back on. It’s sitting on springs and tires here.

Goodies just laying around the shop.

Troopy key set but certainly work in a 77/76 too!

I am looking at 5” up and 7” down for front suspension. This is simply shock travel not actual travel here where the tape measure is.

IMG_2945.webp

Rear things will change more but currently doing 4” up and 6” down in the rear.

Another shot of its arse!!

Flat pitman arm.

IMG_2946.webp

That may be needed here.

Several other options too; I see no issue raising the steering box if needed. I also have one RHD 80-series steering box but iirc it may be more of an issue SoA under max compression.

Flexing the front up is one of the next steps in the build process.

Here is where the H152 trans landed in the old H55 trans hump and cover. Not bad!

With the Black Box this Cruiser will have x2 tcase shifters or “twin sticks”!
