beautiful friends-----

Cute, fuzzy, little guy there. Not so little now though. We have 5 Boxer pups that will be 5 weeks old on Monday. They are just getting to the stage now where they are getting very active and fun to watch as they play.

It doesn't pay to rush a good thing, especially when a vehicle is getting a heart transplant. But, you have light at the end of the tunnel.

I've been spending the past 2+ weeks tearing apart my pickup, along with lots of other stuff on my plate (and dealing with a heat wave). Finally got the 4L80E and transfer case out, and the transmission down to be rebuilt. Almost have the motor out also. The "new" used motor is now stripped down and ready to transfer the peripherals from the old motor as soon as I get it out of the pickup.

I have less than 3 weeks to get it running again so we can go camping at my wife's family reunion. I could have used this plastic money to get my 40 running again, but the pickup gets the treatment since it pulls the travel trailer. I'm having a hard time getting into doing this because I have only a gravel driveway, and the hot weather, to do this in. But, we have at least a week of cooler weather ahead of us now, upper 70's and low 80's, so I better get off my duff and get it back together.

Started with a wire with eyed loops but would not fold right when closed and eventually pulled out of the crimped ends. So I had the factory chain but none of the ends. Made my own shoulder bolt out of a big bolt and some metal pipe cut to size.

And finished with a 700c bike tube used as a chain sock.

Trying to wrap up my FJ40 project that came to me as a rolling chassis, boxes of unknown parts, no motor, "rebuilt tranny" full of water, "fresh undercoat job" flaking off, no seats, no roll bar. I had never even so much as sat in a FJ40 when I decided to buy one in peices. So as I greet the wee hours of another night in my garage and slowly learn from mistake after mistake on my 1st attempt at being a restorer, I just thought about how good it's going to feel to have overcome so many challenges throughout this process. I drove my 1st FJ40 on July 4, 2015. It's not street legal so it was just in circles in my yard and a quick 1 mile jaunt down a sleepy country road. No....tail lights, windshield, doors, hood, or muffler. But it was a sweet sweet drive. My girl's asked for a ride down to the chicken coup. They were almost as stoked as I was.

It doesn't matter where you drive it, it's fun nonetheless!! Circling your yard is simply a short round trip... It's the adventure that counts!! ...and adventure with your kids is what makes life most enjoyable!!

I don't even know you, but you are one hell of a man to try such a daunting task.

Got to love ya!!!! DON'T STOP!!!! You have over come so many challenges, you need to see this thing threw. And to think, you have so many more ahead. I commend you and all you have done for your land cruiser.

Thank you. IH8MUD has definately helped me get where I'm at. I've had some heavy hitter's swoop in to help me over some obstacle's. One member sent me an encouraging PM which spurred me to learn to weld. Now, I will soon be getting my education on roll cage assembly. As you all know this forum is pretty cool. I am very greatful for everone who has taken the time to share their knowlege.

Installed a set of Dakota Digital Gauges, re-wired up the elec fuel pump, dizzy and radio... Just have to wait for my new sending unit to arrive and cut into the tank to install.. Apparently the PO custom made a tank without a fuel sender hole...

Finally finished my suspension swap. Started as an effort to remedy drive shaft vibration (wrong angles). So spring over back to spring under. That cascaded to a Saginaw power steering mod and while I was at it, might as well install F250 shock towers!
