pottered in the shed while I had a seat out today. replaced the foam, springs and trim with one from the 80. not fazed about colors, no rips is a road worthy item. ill get some quality seat covers once its rego'd anyway.. re used the factory staples and everything.

Had a chance to read your entire thread. So far, looks like a 5 yr and counting project. Outstanding commitment!!! To be admired.

I'm feeling like a lightweight, I'm just doing bodywork and paint. Keep up the work. It should be very rewarding to have come this far.

trench was dug today for the shed and the dog house i'll be moving into when the wife founds out how much this pig has REALLY cost me..

We could put a deck out over the edge but thats more work and money then I'm willing to commit.. We've got a deck around the house thats under the eve's and still affords a nice view..

So I lost my mojo to work on the pig for a while there.. continuing to work on getting the interior back to bare metal and the other bits to prep for paint was getting me down and I cbf'd going out to the shed to work on it..

I fitted the front doors so I can check for clearance around the A pillar with my mods.. (and mod the door accordingly)

Decided to run 80 series door rubbers.. They are in a lot better condition than the 55 ones and I dont mind modifying them to suit. It's what I have!

The missing gears for the Sumo gears turned up and I got busy modifying the transfer case to fit them.. The gears took a week to cross the globe and 2 weeks to travel 1000kms but anyway.. they made it. My transfer case had been like this for a good 5 years..

I got stuck in fitting the case to find out I couldn't shift the gearbox so had to much around with the top hat and h55f internals .

My tacho sender and the L4 switch wires are looking a bit sad

Any tips on the best way to fix the wiring above would be appreciated.

But I found some front/rear output flanges so the switch above is all that is missing prior to installation..

The High/Low range arm from a Vacuum shift transfer case is too short to work with the manual converted case, so i'll bend up an extension that bolts over the top of the existing arm.. Also need a 4wd shift gate, I haven't seen mine in ages.

Next up is to seal the sump, replace bearings and install the clutch.

P.s... how good is the lighting in the shed now eh?

Yes. I was worried I may have lost some bits but it's all there.. a few bits left over but that is to be expected...

I had to make up a Hi/Low arm that would reach the shifter (vac transfer shifter is too short)

as well as a transfer shifter gate:

The oil pan was a bit sad in places so attempted some repairs:

Driveline mounted for the last time (I hope!).

I love that UTE from a few posts ago. The one thing I'd think about trading my Pig for. A 4 door tho.

Otherwise, great progress on your Pig. Someday I plan to visit your Island.

I was thinking you could just tell your wife the cost in other currencies so she doesnt know the true price. You could use USD and it would favor you, or go balls out and talk in Bitcoin. Like the average Pig build is only 0.097 Bitcoin.

Man, the clearance around those gears is tight!!!

pretty much yeh.. back into it again now.

i spent the best part of a day on the fingerfile putting the gears in, testing clearence, out, more filing and repeat. thats as close as i got it without interference with the case and the bearing fully in the race.

also i saw some marks adapter gears for sale 2nd hand recently. they were only 2.9:1 low ranged but second hard were asking 1500aud.
