Funny, when all I owned was y 40, I never thought it was too small. It was perfect. Two people, a dog, and our camping stuff. Then my wife got her pickup... and suddenly we could bring 10 times as much stuff and we got used to it. Now we rarely take both trucks at the same time, and I'm suddenly feeling like my 40 is TINY and where the heck am I going to put all this stuff!

That swing out water carrier is really an awesome idea. I love it.

X2 on that...very creative! -Daniel Kent

Thanks guys!!! They work great and give it a good look. I was wondering where could I put these water cans and space I don't use. It even works great for loading equip on the inside, kind of like side boards. The pic with it rolled out is with it full of water. Super easy to take off too, just swing out and lift off. In case some one is wondering the clamps are (scaffold swivel clamps). Oh another fun fact, they also fit NATO fuel cans and large ammo cans (40mm I think) fit nice for outfitting when water is not needed.

Mounted a used stock FJ60 overhead grab handle in the over-door rail on the passenger side of the 45 [same as the 40] to help the missus get in the truck.;)

put a new fuel pump on,it s*** itself 600 or so k's from home and none available so we done this

Your fuel pump is certainly a more attractive design than my stock one!

Nollaig Shona (Happy Christmas)!

That's a pretty smart fix - dunno that I would have thought of that...

Getting ready for some camping / built some swing out water can carriers. They work great solid and swing out with cans full of water.

With a fuel can, the one on the passenger side could be handy for pouring fuel from the can into has tank. Just need a long enough spout or syphon.

Good idea! Or one of those military diesel heaters for the tent!

I trust your replacement didn't fail similarly. (Looks too young for incontinence issues.)

But on a serious note... please attend to that rust on the LH mirror arm ASAP... (It is out of keeping with the appearance of the rest of that immaculate cruiser!)

:D

Started building me a tuffy type console w/ a sheet of 16 gauge I had laying around.

Just started taking my 72 apart. I am trying to keep up with the hours. There are 5 hrs taking the top, sides, seat and clean the inside to see what I have. Some cancer under the front seat othyer than that its pretty solid. All original.

Tore apart the tie rod, etc. up front in an attempt to tighten up the steering. So far it's been pretty easy. I've got all new TREs and am ordering the shimmy damper, center arm rebuild kit, and I'm investigating rebuilding the steering gear.

so, today we tried -on memory alone, 8 years later- to find the exact spot where the pic was taken that came just before my Brimmer calendar shot: this one

we came just so close . . .

guess we have to go back and be more precise ;p

and the reason I couldn't take the 40 is that the brake booster didn't like that all the attention on the truck recently went elsewhere  not only do the trucks know when you get another one, now the parts get jealous, too  :bang:

Nice pics. Maybe a few hundred feet or so further up the road?

I'm curious, what did your brakes "feel" like when you booster went out?

actually, the first pic was taken a bit further down - the climb that I remember is no longer there

brake feel: very soft until about half-way down (no assist, no braking) and then rock hard, requiring a lot of power to make them stop, and this was at ~15-20 mph - I didn't feel like trying out how bad it would be at higher speeds

OK Thanks. Bad brake booster is what I thought.
