Good news of the day: found the vacuum leak that was producing a nice high pitched whistle.

Bad news of the day: It's the brake booster. Looks like I'll be R&Ring it. The new one will be booster #4 in the 11 years I've owned the 40.

Installed my new radiator today. Got it from Performance Radiator for only $250! All the radiators I've used from them have been great quality.
Is that a three row or four row? I put a new radiator in some years ago and it is a three row. It has never worked as good as the old four. If I could find a four row at that price I would get one.

Unfortunately it's a 3 row

80 boosters are a direct bolt in :D and you can use either the 40 or the 80 master. You'll need an inline check valve.

How did you spec out the radiator? As a FJ40, as a FJ40 w/ chevy v8??? Thanks LBM:cool:

On the Performance Radiator website it's from a 1970 FJ40 with the 6 cylinder, but it fits my 1968 just fine. The old radiator (after a custom fan shroud install) cooled the Chevy V8 just fine so I figured an OE replacement would do just fine. I will let everyone know how it works once I find enough coolant for it and get the throttle cable hooked up so I can drive it.

Cool Man - thanks!:bounce:

Removed FG top, removed rotten gutter, started prepping it for a new gutter, and paint. Getting rid of the old seam sealer not to bad w/ dremel and a round dremel die grinding head. Just use light pressure and it's mostly gone.

Fixed my leaky radiator, and replaced the gaskets in the T-stat housing.

Easy job.

Its back from the paint shop and mounted on the frame! Next up is getting the roll bar back in and sorting through the wiring harness. Have most of the harness identified...now to see what needs to be redone...fun times ahead I'm sure...

Getting ready for some camping / built some swing out water can carriers. They work great solid and swing out with cans full of water.

Now to build a mid shelf with psp landing mat (sand mat) as the shelves for emergency traction.

Got Our First Big Snow In Kansas...

Got our first good snow storm of the year and thought I should dump a bottle of Heet/Anti-Freeze in my 40 and cycle it through the fuel system. I don't really drive it that much during the winter since my Tacoma has a way better heater and remote start. Haven't fired it up in over a couple months, but one quick pull on the choke and she started right up on the first crank and was ready to go. I love this thing! :D Can't wait for it to warm up again to I can take her out cruisin' Or I might just buy a snowplow and make some extra money over the winter if it keeps snowing like this...

I have that same thought! My plan always is if you can't make it fit the question is how much do you really need to take....
And how can I best use my space along with what things can have more than one purpose

Hijack...I've never seen a thread with over 1 million views. EVER!!:D
40's rule!

FJeng, What a great idea on the swing out water rack. I never seen anything like that. Good Job! Ron
