Yip, that's ccot-great stuff, so long as you don't plan on keeping your rig for more than a few months.

I fabricated some vent hoses using 1/2 heater tubing. I used some black duct tape to make a wider mouth opening to attach up under the dash. I first rapped it around the outer diameter backwards. Then one wrap normal to create a sleeve. Then one more wrap to anchor it to the tube. Finished off with some silicone high temp water proof tape. I also used a hose clamp to keep it snug and attached. To make the factory looking bends in the hose I used a piece of coat hanger inside the tube. Once you bend it, it stays put inside the tube.

Nice job on the hoses, and you saved $$ doing it. :clap:You are more resourceful than I am. Still taking babysteps here.

Finally getting to the some of the nagging "bottom of the list" type items which were finished up over the 10 days.

1) Upgraded the headlights to the Bosh E Code halogen. The 40 had some older Hellas in it but the reflector was oxidized and didn't reflect light anymore. Stayed with the plug and play 60/55 watt bulb. Big difference!

2) We took the GM column apart and replaced some column parts, wiring, added a relay for more power to the upgraded horns. (the originals were shot). I didn't realize how much a horn is worth until someone is backing into you in a parking lot or switching lanes into you on the freeway. getting attention helps in these situations for sure.

3) Hooked up the backup lights via the Toyota harness for the 4L60 auto trans. Good to see and to be seen (by pedestrians) backing up. Threw in some very bright LED back up bulbs.

4) We pulled the rear third and installed a pair of the upgraded design ARB Carrier O-rings. This is to prevent the gear lube from backing up the air line to the Junction block when locker was used. Nothing worse than gear lube burning off the exhaust manifold - a distinct smell to be sure :p

5) repaired a loose ground wire to the under dash AC unit. Kinda toasty here in AZ ~

Getting there!

yeah, I just cursed myself for saying so. I'm sure a few things will pop up and keep the to-do list forever alive. We all know it never ends :hillbilly:

X a gazillion on horns on a 40 - I have to use them all the time when some yahoo pulls out from a side street at 25mph when we are all going 50mph on Shea  :bang:

I wish I had a train horn, though, my aftermarket horn is just too wimpy

Passed the re-inspection today after replacing the pads on the E brake.

Installed my Fumoto drain valve in the oil pan , nice quality and will make changes a little easier since it can't drain all 8 qts at once .

I used the additional safety lock clamp - it's just basically one of those wire type ring clamps and it's much easier if you use the KD tools or similar clamp tool to remove/install . Prevents smashed fingers and those things flying off into the uknown....

Valve has a very nice composite gasket that looks like it will last a good long time - no leaks at all so far .

Looks good!

Spent some time yesterday refurbishing some dash knobs and my jack. The dash knobs were the best bang for the buck...$5 and 10 min. I was so pleased with the dash knobs I called my buddy who bought my '78 to come over so that we could paint his dash.

I put one of these on my wife's Liberty CRD and really like it as it's protected by the skid plate. I thought about one for the LX, but it would stick out like a dog's bollocks. Maybe I'll weld a skid to my pan when I rebuild my 2f as they really are nice to have-especially with the hose barb fitting. I drain my wife's oil right into a gallon milk jug using a 1/2" id x 3' piece of hose.

got a 4" alcans and billsteins installed, nicer ride, but still bouncy. rigged up brackets for rear seats that fit chevy lumina minivan 2nd row/middle seat with it's own seat belt. new SOR family top. and rockin the wooden beads to hide some duct tape!

...and waitin for some metal tech tube doors :)

I've got a pair of marine air horns to mount on my 40... Just have to mount the new air tank on first... They make big rig horns sound wimpy... :D
