Made these bad ass old school mud flaps originally for the 45lv series rigs.
These have been unobtainium for a long... long time. (Obi-Wan Kenobi voice)

These are my first sets. Some minor flaws but easily fixed.

So for today’s adventure, drove to work....introduced “dusty” to Gus’s hot dogs, went to the dealership to exchange a warranty part (no parking in the service waiting area so I pulled up on the lawn to swap out the turn signal) and had several dealership employees check out the land cruiser.
Now here is the funny side of today’s event. The girls at the service check in (you have to pass through service to get to parts) noticed my vehicle from a distance and commented back and forth on the old jeep that pulled up in the lot. I took the time to introduce them to the land cruiser heritage.
Also for those that don’t buy parts from the dealership, Toyota warranties parts for a year. I swapped out a turn signal in about five minutes there.

Couple of questions. Did you paint the chrome trim rings on the turn signals and clearance lights or is that something replacements have. I know the turn signal switch handle up to 9/72 is paint black when original was chrome. Is that a 1/75+ hood if so how does the windshield line up with the pads when folded down? When the wipers moved to the bottom the windshield hinges changed and moved the windshield up and forward to clear wiper motor.

I have a 1973 windshield with original hinges and a 75+ hood with standard windshield pads.

The geometry works perfectly:

I did paint both the turn signal and clearance light bezels. The hood was on it when i got it, thought it was original. As 73FJ40 said, works great. My build date was 12/73.

Very nice work!

"Unfurled" the cable on my OEM PTO winch. I'm in the process of refurbishing it, and needed to remove the cable in order to clean up and paint the drum.

For the record, I measured the length of the OEM cable (I've owned the winch since brand new in the crate, purchased from a dealer in Flagstaff, AZ in 1979.)

The 8mm cable is 50 meters (165 ft) long spliced to an eye holding a 3 ft chain with a slip hook on the end.

A tape measurement came in at 167 ft. (see below) but there were a couple waves in the line that would have added the additional foot:

Got some Fathers Day tech in. (Even if not exactly

40 tech) Didn’t do anything specifically to the 40 except lean on it while my son trims the bumper on his 4-runner. We added a winch and bumper to his rig. Going on a trail ride tomorrow. It will be a good way to spend a Fathers Day weekend.

So multiple projects going on, the 1970 40, the 1973 40, but in my SPARE time, I have been setting up a plating bench. I have been working on a MUD member's carb, full tear down, soak and rebuild. Here are some linkage resto pics.

Zinc, yellow Chromate. I can do just about any small part, I am waiting on a bigger bin to do larger stuff, but got a larger Power Supply today for bigger surface area parts. I can do Blue Chromate or Black Oxide. I will post some of those finishes up in the next few days on a Plating thread.
