Small stuff for the '73. Installed FJ60 plug wires to accompany the FJ60 distributor. I think it took longer to order the wires than install them. Pressing the boots to the plugs and distributor cap was a reminder of how well OEM stuff works for the application. This engine had some generic loose fitting wires that I yanked and sent to the trash. View attachment 2695345View attachment 2695347

Heard about this on the 60 series forum for washing out frame rails. This is a hose with fittings designed to clear plugs in plumbing, just hook it up to a pressure washer. It came with two spray heads, a button style and a rotating style. I found the rotating head to work best. Messy job but the inside of the frame rails are cleaned out.

I wish I had realized how much dirt/mud was built up in our 71’s rails before rolling it in the shop and yanking all the brakes and axles. Ugg. I step forward, two steps back.

Removed old poorly applied touch-up paint, did patina preservation and a good three step buff.

Man I just don't get the patina thing. For most of my younger years, I drove cars and trucks with plenty of patina and I never learned to appreciate it. For me, I enjoy driving vehicles with a nice paint job even if it has a few Arizona pin stripes.

Took the top off for the first time since I completed my restoration. Built my own hoist since the Racor lift is out of stock and pushing $700🤬. Used some unistrut and a HF electric hoist. Total cost was less than $150. Score for John😂

Nice pics. Good looking Cruiser. Plan to install my own lift for my hard top this coming weekend, so that gives me some good ideas.

Here are some pics of how I put the unistrut together. Now that I think about it, I probably spent closer $175-$180 but sill a lot better than $700.

What paint did you use on the roof?
I used 1974 T012 Cygnus White (that’s the only year they had it listed for) in single stage Acrylic Urethane from TCP Global. Same type of paint I used on the body. Very pleased with the paint, but I am a novice.
