Met a friend. (I am going to go ahead and say my small town is STACKED with cool Land Cruisers). Anyway Aussie 45 with cool covered tray back turbo diesel and 5 spd.

Finally got my new quadrajet from Sean Murphy Inductions dialed in. Had to fight a couple vacuum leaks and idle mixture issues but the truck now idles beautifully at 650RPM. The best I could get out of my old Buick Qjet was about 800RPM, which had a tendency to wander up to 1000 after a few miles.
Now I've got good throttle response, and no real stumbles. Most importantly, it starts without having to crank it for 2 minutes.
Ye olde 283 seems to like about 14 degrees advance timing, which gives me about 38 degrees at throttle.
Now it's just a matter of saving my pennies in order to pull the whole engine, and either replace or reseal it, then drop it back in with new mounts in the proper location.
Chomping at the bit to get started!

Can you tell me or pm me what throttle cable set up you have and what the length is? Did you have to modify the peddle. I'm having issues with the throttle cable set up I have after putting in a quadrajet.

Hey Rob,
Sure - I used the Lokar universal throttle cable. I bought the 36 inch length, part number: TC-1000HT36. I do remember needing to cut a significant amount off the housing and cable for proper fit. I also built a little custom backing plate to cover the hole in my firewall. The PO had just left the throttle cable hanging in space, and it was slowly getting cut by the edge of the firewall. I remember the trick to cutting the cable without having it unravel was wrapping the area I was going to cut with electric tape before I cut it with a dremmel.
I used the existing setup on my pedal, but since the PO had done the V8 and throttle cable conversion initially, I'm not sure if he modified the pedal or not. There's a welded tab on my pedal that the cable end runs through. Hang tight, I'll snap a couple photos of the setup, and edit this post to upload them.
Ok here we go - here is the attachment to the carb, plus return springs, mounted to a universal bracket that mounts to the back base bolt on the carb
Here is the metal mount I made to cover the hole. The cable housing has to affix to something solid with this setup. As I mentioned the previous cable was just hanging in space so this was the solution I came up with. Just sheet aluminum with some holes drilled in the right places. Hard to see but it's over on the right hand side of the picture.
Inside, here is the pedal setup, I added a washer to ensure the cable wouldn't pull through the tab on the pedal. No idea if this tab is present stock, or welded by PO.

I inspected all the connections of the new lines I ran in conjunction with converting to a tandem mc and converting to front discs on my '69. The check valves from wilwood had some type of awful thread sealant in the pipe fitting adapters, so I had to put in fittings with better sealant. I also bled the system for the first time before I replaced the sealant. Lots of leaks, hence the new sealant. Also reattached the drive shafts, I took them off a while back when we changed the friction plate. It reminded me that the PO didn't have a complete set of bolts on them and were three different sizes. Going to get a full set of stock bolts and nuts next week, hopefully.

I treated my Paki soft top per JOHNNYC's wax method #3. It was very easy to do and worked perfectly. It even added a bit of color back to the faded canvas. It rained 3 days after I did this and the water is beading up like its on a duck. I couldn't be happier.

Removed leaky OE 1982 PS pump and an AP idler, replaced both w/1981 Volvo Saginaw PS pump. Works great, shoulda done this 5 years ago when the PS pump first started going away.
Uses stock AP belt size, stock hoses, stock lower mount & upper adjuster.

Rear heater rehab..Sand blasted primed and painted the housing. Disassembled the heater motor (inspected, lubed and tested). Waiting on a new (used) core before installing back into the hunting mule.
