Thanks Kad, Yoop, Lou and Lou! I started out doing a pretty good job and now I've regressed to a "trail-rated" job! (catch the joke there?) The paint is a 20 footer but thats good enough when its going to get scratched to heck and back next weekend. There is a little over spray here and there but its not bothering me.

I'm going to try and drop my truck off at a local good-'ole-boy garage to have them adjust and bleed my rear drums and weld shut a spot they missed installing my exhaust. I also need for them to adjust the routing of my exhaust so I can mount my skidplate...I've got a good pic of that somewhere around here... I'm also going to check with them about straightening my rear bumper. I'm considering the "hook up a big arse chain to a big arse tree and jerk the bend back out" method but am a little hesitant.

When I reinstalled my doors yesterday (this is fun by yourself) the rears fit pretty well w/o much slack in the hinges. I'm happy that those hinges are good. The fronts pull teh suck. Some very nice fellers (and lady) are going to send me some hinges to replace my fronts. I considered rebuilding mine this weekend but feel they are too far gone to attempt. Also, my doors seem to align well except for my passenger front. The window section bows outward and does not fit tight at all. Its almost like the window frame is bent where it attaches to the bulk of the door. The hinges were not moved during my previous work so I don't know whats going on here.

Here is my schedule this week to get my Pig ready for my club's annual meeting this weekend and a little trail ride.
Mon - drop Pig off at garage to have exhaust fixed and brakes fixed and adjusted. Tidy up door panels and clean for installation. Clean weather stripping for installation.
Tues - no work - leaving town after work
Weds - out of town
Thurs - Pick up Pig after work - install door panels, finish wire wheeling underside of roof (removal of stock insulation), install weatherstripping on door jambs - weather stripping for doors is shot - if any time is left work on tailgate
Fri - work more on tailgate - probably won't get finished for meeting/trail ride but I hope to get all the rust cut out and the inside POR'd. I might throw a little ODG on to get rid of my last area still painted with blue - that looks a little too redneck for me if thats even possible.
Sat - pack up Piggie and head to annual meeting, trail ride in the afternoon
Sun - annual meeting fest

Yup - I put together an almost mint pair of upper and lower fenders but didn't want to use them as I would have to hack off the bottoms which were rust free so I traded w/ a friend who is doing a stock 55 restor. There is a tad of bondo on these but not much at all.

Oh, speaking of bondo - I found 5 layers on the tailgate! :eek:

Thanks JP. I think the tailgate will still be U-G-L-Y but I have to look at everything else I've done!

I dropped my truck off at TR Tire and Muffler to have them turn and rework my rear drums. Those guys are nuts - I dropped my Piggie off at 6 last night and they tried to have it done by midnight! It didn't happen but I'll have it today - that is service. I would go to RHT but Anderson is too far to drive all the time.

Stopped by TR Tire and Muffler to pick up my Piggie from getting its rear brakes fixed...road test raised some flags and a quick check back at the garage revealed that the front brakes do not work at all. You can jack up the front, push in the brake pedal and spin the front wheels with your hands - both of them - so the owner (Brian - very nice guy) is going to get it fixed before the annual meeting.

Now my hood won't close all the way...gotta research that.

Please let use know what was wrong with the front brakes. I installed all of that myself...
 
Howdy! Usually that means that your favorite mechanic left a tool or two up in the well under the hood hinges!!!! BTDT John

Mechanic said several things could be wrong - probably nothing wrong with the calipers you installed Yoop - mechanic things line blocked, pinched, etc...due to age of truck.

I got about an hour and a half in this evening working on parts that were in my garage and not on the Piggie. Nothing too exciting happened. I basically cleaned up a bunch of pieces that have to be reassembled on the doors, visors, etc. If the truck isn't ready tomorrow I am going to stop by the shop (less than a mile from my house) and start installing pieces.
