Me too! I love all the knowledge and skills that come together on this forum. Learn something new every time I sign in. And who doesn't love a little turbo sorting!?! Especially a diesel pig!I love this stuff!
J Mack,
On your front shocks, is that a 45 degree fitting going to the reservoir?
Thanks
So how soon before we can go play in the snow?
Oh Man, makes 3, no?
EDIT... or who's counting
Thank you for clearing this up! So parts rigs, with parts not installed on the driver pig, could actually be subtracted from the total build budget? The plan is to only use one at a time and parts not on the pig don’t count towards the final budget numbers, don’t think I don’t see what you’re doing here.
You think if you can get me to admit to something here you’ll have an ally when your wife discovers all those “Toyota” farm equipment receipts..
Edit: yes I’ve done the body twice, rear end three times, front end twice, drive shaft twice, tires twice, shocks twice and now the turbo three times all in 3500 miles, as they say owning a pig is tough love.

That is exactly how my math works
I know you'll find that Goldilocks turbo that will be just right. Such is the life of backyard engineering, just takes more time and more money. I've been through two versions of my first turbo, moved on to compounds, and now a second version on my small turbo in my compounds.
It does sound like you are getting set up for some compounds with all these turbos you'll have laying around.![]()
Did someone say compound turbos! I know the turbo you need might be out there, it sounds like you are looking for numbers that a single turbo may not deliver. Low end power on a low rpm Diesel engine requires a smaller turbo but the big boost numbers your wanting at higher rpm sounds like a big turbo...
I ran an HX30W on my 4BT powered 80-series and it spooled up nice and fast compared to the stock H1C. Just make sure you get the smaller 6 cm^2 turbine housing (not the 12). That coupled with 3.70 gears (and 35" tires) really lowered my highway RPMs without affecting performance.
David,
With the 3.70s and 35" tires, how was the low end, first gear performance. I would think the 4bt has enough low end grunt to pull it.
