New transmission input bearing delayed :(
(Part number M802048 by the way)
Had a little time yesterday and hopefully fixed the NV4500 tailhousing leak, and hopefully fixed the 203 doubler shifter detent issue. I pulled the spring out and put a thick washer in. It was popping out of gear on deceleration which was really annoying and potentially super dangerous offroad so hopefully that's fixed and I can get rid of the bungee cord holding it Hi-range. I put fresh oil in it too.
I was really hoping to rebuild the T-case while I had it out and do a few mods to it but my rebuild kit isn't here yet and I don't have any more time. I think it's technically OK besides the leaks, I'll keep an eye on the fluid level and try to get another two months out of it.

Poser shots... and no there’s no ramp :flipoff2:

I’ve been pretty much daily driving this thing, it’s been pretty miserable with 100-degree temps and no AC (@FJ60Cam i need to get with you on that hose fitting!!), but V8 and stick shift makes up for it pretty well.

Went down to St Pete earlier today (300 mile trip) to pick up some stuff for my next build, was going to take the pickup but of course that had issues so took the LC and trailer even though I have a horrendous T-case noise I need to look into. Of course I went smack in the middle of the day when it was 100 degrees out too, horrible. Either way no issues. Temp gauge went up to 205 sitting stuck in traffic which is the highest I’ve ever seen it.

Oh yeah, that’s 205 sitting on probably 150-degree asphalt surrounded by hot cars and no air flow with
20-year-old stock radiator and electric fans.

Highest I've seen mine go is 225. Not a comfortable feeling.

You can get used to no AC. The worst I had was driving the BJ40 last summer. Austin to Little Rock and the temp inside the cab never got below 105 during the day. First time as an adult I drove with no shirt, no shoes in my bathing suit but it was a must.

I don’t think I’ve had AC in this rig in five years. It’s always fell to the wayside but now I’m running out of other big projects to do.
I’ve got the compressor on the motor, a sweet 2016 Chevy Sonic condenser, everything under the dash is new, just need to make hoses and charge it up.
It should work really well too with all the modern components

I'm right there with you. It's been 5 years in the 80 with no AC. I'm thinking you have it worse in Florida with the humidity than I do in Austin.

I, too, went 5 years with no A/C in Florida with my Volvo 765 Turbo. Fortunately, it was designed in an area when air conditioning wasn’t compulsory, so the way the wind flowed through that thing with all the windows and sunroof open was unlike any modern car I’ve experienced. Very quiet, and no buffeting whatsoever, even at 80+ mph. Really helped keep things cool.

After five years, I fixed the AC... then the whole car died a few months later 🙄🙄🙄🤬🥵

Those are great for funneling bees right into you shorts. Been stung a few time with wing windows as a kid.

I never thought of that! Ouch. I mostly like the wing windows just because they're so rare in NA. They're awesome below 30-40mph after that they're really loud.

With yesterday's drive being so hot, I noticed my oil pressure gauge reading lower then normal, it would come back up to normally if I revved the motor up a bunch though. This is just the FJ62 dash gauge so not real data obviously, but I'm thinking about adding a engine oil cooler. And gauges for oil temp and oil pressure.

Yeah, I think it's a good way to go. Another project to the never ending list.
So I guess this is the current line-up of upcoming projects:
1.Split-case rebuild
2.Front sway bar
2. AC
3. upgrade rear shocks
3. engine oil cooler

More projects to do but low priority
Wire/fix winch
wire lighting
Switch panel
dual battery wiring
sound/heat insulation
Quieter exhaust
Selectable rear locker

Had a pleasant time on the Florida trails today. I really like the flexyness of the new suspension. I think future technical rocky trails will be way more of a controlled experience with the added ground clearance and wheel travel. Can’t wait.

I also have a video of my attacking a sloppy mud hill I need to figure out how to post it. I parked at the top to tow others who wanted to try and got denied, the 80 (stock on all terrains ) got up after some serious thrashing and stopped short of hitting my truck by inches. I’ll post video of him too, I don’t know how he didn’t pop a birf or hub studs.
