I'm struggling to get my head around body mounts for the pig to 80 chassis as most mount points on the pig body sit directly above the 80 chassis rails..

@TachedOutOffRoad and @cruiserjunktion - i'd greatly appreciate any photos of the body mounts from the front doors to the back if you can get them easily.. I just need some ideas to get my head around how to tackle it myself..

The longer ones were under the front doors. Think it was 4x4” tubing. Cut, test fit, grind, test fit, grid, test fit, cut, bolt it on, weld.

The little one are how I did the rest. Not very creative or pretty, but they work. They were all a pain in the ass and hard to get to.

i marked and drilled the hole in the plate first, then bolted it on, then welded the square tubing bracket on a little, unbolted it, burned it all the way in ( away from rubber body mounts), bolted it back on, then welded to frame.

I redrilled the hole for the mount near the back doors inboard about 3-4” to make it fit. You can access the top of the bolt when the lay the back seat forward. It was right over the 80 frame. I would might do that again next time for more of them.

I replaced most of the factory bolts with shorter ones. They are fine pitch like the gas tank bolts.

did some more work positioning the body on the chassis tonight.. this time with the front end attached..

I've tried to compress the rear end using a ratchet strap but might need to get desired ride height by removing springs and using jack stands..

Removed the shocks and springs and sat the chassis on jack stands.. still yet to adjust the body though

Not a lot of room for tyre in that wheel well

Not a lot of room to play with, looks like no matter which way you move it you're going to rub at full compression.

Yeh.. ill drop it on the bumpstops and use that to position the tyres/body... as full.compression is where itll need the most clearance

You could always make some sheetmetal adjustments.🤔
the only adjustments i'll be making in that regard are with a BFH.. bugger making those wheel arches again

Lowered the chassis onto the bumpstops to check clearances and finalise body position

Now to start thinking body mounts

Looks like you hit mark. The other thing to keep in mind is if you ever run a more aggressive pattern tyre ( either same size or a 33) and how that may behave.

Looks like you ended up moving the body forward an inch or 2?

Rear wheel placement looks perfect!
Not sure how much was moved .. just shuffled things around till it looked good by eye.

Body is centered on the chassis.. ive got some equal length bits of angle tacked on the inside of the sills at A and C pillar that keep the body in position while i make other adjustments.

The rear x member is the same distance to the body on the outer and center spots.. and the sills are within 1 deg of parallel with the chassis rails..

Re body mounts i had considered remaking some but i think i have enough clearance to make them work on top of the chassis rail.. only those under the rear seat will need to be redrilled.

Ill get all the 80 body rubbers together and run with those and modified 80 chassis body mounts

My play tyres are 34" tsl swampers. They are a smidge smaller than my AT's.. but ill throw then on to check anyway..

I think ive got all the body mounts sorted in my head using existing holes. Ive got 1 extra set due to the bj73 floor.. i reckon i can mod the body mounts to work on those that sit above the chassis rail.. the bj73 chassis is still providing.

80 mounts and rubbers

Front bj73 mounts will work on the mounts behind the rear wheel well tgat sit over the chassis rail..

Factory mount measure at 2mm steel.. so i should be fine to mod them with 3mm..

Got the rear most body mounts fabbed, painted and tacked onto the chassis,, rubbers are tightened up.

I basically cut the top off the rear most 80 body mounts so i could use the rubber and fabbed a new lower section that kinda outboarded the body mount..
