Really beautiful 40, actually.
I agree. Super solid. I’m a bit scared to look under the dash but under the hood the wiring harnesses on both fenders are unmolested for the most part.

Did the underside of the hood. It turned out great

Moved to the grill. This thing was gross.

After ….. treated the rust with some Fluid Film

You can really see the clear and how it faded dull. This is why I 100% vote no on clear coat over patina like all the keyboard cowboys suggest.

After ….. got it smooth though like the rest of the body

Added the proper Koito H4 and a CCOT bezel with spacers. The mesh is at powder so no full shot yet

Last post on this guy for a few days. Taking the Mustard 78 back to @jomelo this weekend and I have to do my day job on the way.

I got some Overland Metric hinge screws and installed some proper mirrors and arms.

This is the tool for the job. It’s a screwdriver for an air hammer.

Problem is if it’s a real tough screw it might shatter the bit. Luckily it only happened once and it broke free first. This was my fix

They look so good though

You are living the dream Mr @wngrog , thanks for bringing us along for the ride. I love that all these old cruisers are getting a second lease on life and aren't getting some s***ty resto job. What is going back in that empty hole under the hood?

Man... CCOT is out of stock on their white bezels. Do you just have a stash of them!?

This is shaping up to be a great build. Guess I’ll have to step down on the podium and be content with the second best ‘74 to come out of Tilda Bogue!

My good friend Rory @RocketCityCrzrs is going to build me a late 2F and I’ll top it off with a Mosley Sniper kit.

H42/split case with 3.70s so Mr Bowman can legitimately make those 75 mph runs without killing the motor

Your formula is what started all this nonsense. Maybe one day we can do a version 2.0 on Weenie 3

Looks amazing as usual. Where did you get the mirrors? OEM? I’m having a hell of a time finding a driver side OEM mirror arm for my 77 under $300 😳

that is a LOT of antiseize.. :ninja:
I hope you dropped that whole assembly in the recycle bin and just kept the inner axle.

More tear in. This side was not leaking so he had one brake at least

Springs are some OME combo with the shackle reversal. They are in good shape so they are being reused but all the end pieces are getting replaced and the 1984 Heckethorn shocks are goners

I got one pack fully cleaned and painted.

Nothing real fun going on here but gotta document

Lit this thing off with the old fluids. Blew through about 4 gallons in a couple hours

The other spring is out and the front housing has also been cleaned up and painted. Waiting on UPS for my bushings today and I’ll button the front back up

Got the center arm pulled off and everything for the front axle is painted and stuff is drying tonight. I’ll have a front end tomorrow hopefully.

This stuff is beautiful
