Painted the bezel, hi-lift jack, bonnet, instrument panel, gauge cluster, and kick vents. Serviced the heater. Disconnected the air conditioning for the winter. Got in it, and drove the heck out of it! :)

started a complete front axle overhaul, to include new hard and soft brake lines, tres as well as tie rods. new brake parts and probably rebush the springs and hangers...obviously new shocks too.

Where are you getting your new hard line from?

Kurt sells flanges if you need to change bolt pattern.

Yeah, I've seen those. I figured it's only one more set of holes so I'll be set for any changes in the future. I used solid pinion spacers for just these types of issues.

Stuck on some old emblems so people will know its not a jeep. Also started stripping years of paint off of a tailgate I picked up from a mud member last weekend. Can't wait to get it mounted on.

Good God man, how many different sets of holes are in your rear bed / sill ?

New to FJ's started the restoration of my 72 FJ40

I was looking for a Datsun Patrol for restoration and just could not find a good survivor. I found a 1972 FJ40 from the original owner in Sonora County in CA. It is a clean survivor with virtually no rust. I began the frame off restoration this week and prior to finishing the tear down I plan to upgrade to a Saginaw power steering system. I have been sourcing parts the past two days.

Separated the t-case from the transmission after rigging up a t-case puller. Should have just done this yesterday. Yes, at some point in the future I'll cut this down to a non-comical length.

Moved around my project, including getting the drivetrain ready to bolt together. Lesson learned: a wheelbarrow isn't a good tool for moving a transmission.

Anyone have a h42 input shaft?

Yikes! That was an expensive or time consuming drop right there. Contact Mark at Mark's Off-road. Might just source another tranny. (I'm in a tranny rebuild right now).

Look on the bright side.. You've now got a handy clutch plate alignment tool ;)

'Cold' is the only positive thing I can say about Aussie beer.

Come to America and I'll shout you a pint or three of our micro brew-heaven in a pint glass. After that I'll take you fly fishing in Colorado in between wheeling to old mining ghost towns in the San Juans and Rockies. That's what I hope to do this week to my Cruiser (to get back on topic)

You know nothing

Got my carb finally rebuilt and my 40 is running again! The diaphragm for the secondary was shot and the fuel bowl had a nice jelly-like residue covering the bottom. I'm surprised it ran for as long as it did in that shape. Thanks Pinhead for the vids!
