Hey mate not yet. I might put something in later when I'm done. I just finished mounting the computer on the weekend. Charging system is done along with starting as well. Should go pretty well :)

Got the body off to the paint shop...1-2 weeks and I'll have it back on the frame. Plan to get the roll bar painted and ready to re-install this week. Progress... kyle-landcruiser.blogspot.com

Dragged some little sheds around with it.

Pulled out the wobbly harmonic balancer. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I simply wrapped the balancer with a bicycle tube, rachet strapped it to the chassis to stop it moving and used a 1200 ft/lb electric impact wrench on it for 5 seconds. All of my strength on a 5' breaker bar did nothing except twist the engine on its mounts. The balancer came off easy with the supercheap 3 jaw puller.

I wish the cruiser would fit in the shed though... it gets damned hot outside, even under my makeshift shelter.

New Shoes

Got these:

back from the powder coater and switched from Michelin LTX 285/75 16 to BFG KM2 33x10.50 15.

Looks a lot better but they tuck better under the fenders and have much more tread for the trails and the Idaho snow. Unless I get into a quarry or start jumping this rig, I won't NEED the OME lift (though I probably still will). What was immediately noticeable was how much easier these are to steer than the 285s. No power steering and the low speed driving is so much better. The ride is actually better too with the lower unsprung weight.

I cannot recommend the blokes at Discount Tire enough. Switching from alloys back to steel necessitated new lug nuts which they threw in for free. They also mounted the older KM I already had as a spare for no charge. This is only one in a long list of times that DT has really done me right.

Hmmm

Lets see, installed a new Weber Carb, washed the 40, probably first time anyone had in 10 years!, painted the rollbar, painted the cap, polished up the old paint, painted the grill, and painted the headlight bezel.
Not much I guess.

Oh thank god I don't live there any more: if I never see another Australian summer it will be too soon!

Starting pulling the gas tank to get her back on the road and found this hiding behind the cover plate, not a good sign.

Maybe the PO found it to be a good fuel tank additive too...

(It should be, based on the wide-ranging things it cures.)

You guys over there have all the great products. (Our nasty Consumer Affairs Department stops many of these marvellous things from reaching our shelves.)

:D

I'm sorry, are you referring to Amerika? I don't think so. It's a police state in the making. Given our vehicle laws aren't like AU and NZ but I feel like the Chinese people sometimes with all the utter false propaganda spread by the MSM.

... and in other news, I worked on my tranny rebuild today.
