So. This happened today 😁😁😁
Found the tires on Simpletire for 20% off. Kenda Klever rt601 33/9.5/15 on stock steelies.
Was riding on 15 yr old KOs so my first impression is blown away happy. Fresh rubber, aaahhhh.
Everything about the handling...
After having it for just about 3 years I’m finally going to install the headliner! I’ve drilled and tapped the broken screws from my initial removal 4 years ago. And now I’m letting it smooth out a little.
Over the summer, I just drove it, but by the winter I had a few more things on my list.
The brake and clutch master and slave cylinders were old aftermarket units so they were replaced and I dropped my carb off with @FJ40Jim.
When Tony got...
Haha. Well…..30 wire, dirty tip, didn’t degrease,
I did sand the epoxy off along the edges…mostly. Cooling with compressed air but I know I’m going too fast. I probably should have taken the day off but yes, it will be awesome. I can’t wait...
How much prep are you doing on the metal? Degreasing? Looks like you’re leaving a decent amount of paint too. What are you doing to cool off your welds?
I’ll assume you’re keeping your tip clean? Using 0.23 wire?
I’m no “Wizard” by any stretch...
These days are the ones we learn the most from. Next time will be better because of it.
Extra work and frustration but it will still look good.
NOBODY got good at something by doing it perfectly the first time. Just doesn't work that way.
For those of you that weld badly like myself… You’ll appreciate these photos. I had a frustrating day welding. Mainly because of my bad cuts resulting in my gaps too wide but I really struggled getting these door patches fitted. Possibly getting...

Been waiting on my Walmart battery to give it up……. lasted 9 years! Decided on a Toyota TrueStart lifetime battery since I had a $25 coupon 🤑
I had a cleaned up tray ready to go and ended up pulling the mount to wire brush, prime and paint...
Thank you guys, acquired new (to me) motor and will clear out the garage for my winter project. The previous owner wasn’t even home but had enough trust in a fellow cruiser owner and my wedding story that he instructed me into his garage to use...
Hazard switch. Normal course of action might be to find another or buy one. However a small flat head screwdriver to carefully pry open the tabs and wiring harness revealed what I'd hoped to be an easy fix:
Quite a bit of dirt and grime fell...
@Chungas Revenge …thank you. I agonized about how it would turn out and initially hoped the top would come in a little darker. Turns out I am pretty happy with it.
Also got the outside skins welded on the ambulance doors. Looks pretty good after grinding. Going to spray some epoxy on the inside surfaces and then get the backside welded on. Will use some filler over the seam, another shot of epoxy, and...
Couldn’t find a mat for the rear bed that was in stock or one that I liked… Went down to the local feed store and picked up some quarter inch rubber matting. Probably find it at most feed/western/tractor supply places. Cuts easily with a utility...
Door patch panels came from CCOT. Got to work right away. I haven’t test fit for the main doors yet but for the ambulance doors I have to say the fit is really good. Maybe even perfect. My plan is to get the front panel all welded up and...
Sure thing.
On the way back from Moab in May, the temp climbed higher than usual going over Vail Pass and Hoosier Pass, but hasn't done it since. I was totally loaded down with gear and another passenger at that time, but it was still unusual...
