I finished installing my Chevy 4.3 TBI fuel injection on the 2F! WOW is it a nice change from the carb! Gotta borrow a timing light (they crush real easy under a tire! Douh!). Work out a little programing and she will be even more smooth! I cant believe how well she runs now. Big improvement IMHO!

3 words... Front Disc Brakes!!!

Started my 75 for the first time in 14 months

I rolled my 75 off the trailer straight into my garage to tear apart. After 14 months I got the satisfaction of starting it today.

In last year I:
sandblasted frame and tub
Relaxed rear sill and quarter panels
Rebuilt transmission ant t-case when I found them full of water
Replaced sbc since original block was cracked
Replaced PO crappy bell housing adapter with aa
New clutch
Swapped axles when found signs of water in original
New disc brakes front new cylinders back
Rust bullet frame
Rapter lined bottom and tub
Built tailgate from 1/2 barn doors
Added 60 power steering
Ez wiring kit
GM tilt wheel
Did a boat load of body work
Repainted with two stage paint (not bad for self applied--- learned a bunch)

Does the list ever end?

Any pics and or write up on this stuff?
Looking into the ez harness.
How about the GM column? Any pics of info on that?
What year GM did you pull that from?
How'd with wiring go?
Any tricks you picked up?

Thanks,

Keith

Looks Great MATTCAMP............i hope you dont snag those rack mounts in those Oregon woods!

I know, they stick out!!!

I haven't quite figured it out yet but jerry cans are going on each side between the bars. They will stick out past the bars an inch or two. the fancy paint snuck up on me, I thought I was going to live with spray can desert tan forever, which is why I didn't care about the holes through my beat up old tub. My buddy came along and decided I was getting a paint job and did all the bodywork(extensive) and paint out of the blue, but I couldn't tell him not to do it.

destin, yor rig is amazing, I love the old rigs, much character! I am working on a 65 fj45lv wagon with my Dad that reeks of the same nostalgia as yours, and the parts are a pain in the arse to find. My first FJ40 in highschool had an original soft top, man I wish I had tucked that away, it was impecable. I can't believe at the time I thought it was dorky because the doors had that big white canvas square on them and the metal frame was red , the rest of the top was white with red frame. I wished I had a black top so bad, now I would trade a thousand bestops for my original safari top. damn it!!!

Slapped it back together with a coat of paint on my half doors to get at least one road trip in with the top off, there's rain on the horizon. Won't bother me as much but wanted to take my :princess: along. We cruised up to the campground where my daughter and her husband were camping and brought them dinner. Good trip, a tad cool on the way home but that heater rebuild kit I got from AATLAS kept our feet warm. Felt good to get it out, it's been down since the Super Bowl! :bounce2:

changed the winch cable, did some maintenance on the winch, and then pulled a stump left over when a storm blew down the tree in the front yard (that was on the 40)

On the 55, I pulled the front wheel bearings, repacked them and adjusted. I still have a front wheel wobble, so that means trunion bearings probably.

Got the H55 transmission mounts and powersteering mounted up as well as some additional plates welded on.

Thanks OCD for the parts that i need to replace on my used paki top,,
