we were headed towards fairbanks. but so far had it over in Denali, down to Whittier on the return trip back up now for a few days then out to Seward for fishing next weekend and see where it goes from there
Spotted this guy and his family going through BC and the Yukon a few days ago headed towards Anchorage. The 40 looked right at home cruising the Alaska highway.
been working on a little reassembly this week. I've owned this one for 20 years and it's always had a bit of a swiss cheese floor. Looking forward to driving it without water or mud splashing up the back of my seat.
I'd like to finish...
Finally was able to paint match my new spare wheel to the gray wheels on my truck. I went to one of those auto paint shops and found that Valspar S4736 gray was very close to what was on my other wheels. Had them mix it in a spray can to shoot...
My FJ addiction started in the late 60s to early 70s when I was about 8 or 10 years-old. I remember my cousin's husband's brother had a mustard FJ40. We drove out into bumf-cked Lake County CA to look for Lake County diamonds in it. Didn't...
Been thinking of the "to do" list: motor mounts, center arm rebuild, rain gutter repair, hardtop restore, the thing consumes some oil, maybe a top end job... Or, I just keep adding oil, keep filling the tank, keep on keeping on and trying to...
Finally got my kids seats bolted in properly and they fold down nicely as part of a double bed. Also got the bare bones of the kitchen fitted in place.
I loved reading @cruiserkev story about his FJ40. I thought there would be an interest of my 49 year memory so here it goes. I moved to northern Vermont 1973 with my Pontiac. By thanksgiving there was no way that car would be useable all winter...
Just realized my 40 turned 47 this month, it's had an interesting history and is still going strong. May 1976 was a long time ago, really an age gone by by today's reckoning. This thing is testament to Toyota toughness, I highly doubt anything...
We went out to my bros. farm to get the boat. Fortunately, I drove the 40 out to be the chase vehicle because I was the only one who had a jack and tools handy. .
I received my tool bag hold down and jack bracket parts from Heritage Cruiser @cwags12 on Friday, but I got busy rebuilding a porch this weekend. So, I got to the parking lot at work a little early this morning, and went ahead and bolted them...
Coating is normal but yours appears to be half chipped off. It's a conductive coating/to reduce spark scatter/RFI suppression and prevent erosion. The rotor will work without it but it will probably wear faster.
Been slowly working on the F engine to 2F engine motor swap on my 40.
Been doing some cleaning, adding some new bits to it and painting oil cooler and engine.
Those are 35" ProComp X Terrains that are about 15 years old. Got them from 4 wheel parts when they did a buy 3 get 1 free sale. Excellent tire in the mud, snow or sand plus they ride nice on dry pavement. Liked them so much that I put 33s on my...
