@bobm

Snapped a couple of pics… just for you 😜

Here’s what I’m thinking… pulling all of that out/off; mounting an 80 series box (and pitman arm) on the frame rail and slapping a high steer kit on it. Sound easy… lol.

What in the cornbread hell?!

Yes! 80 box. 60 box. Scout box. Anything but wtf is going on there currently! Wow😳
LOL!

I followed 120mm's history with this rig before I bought it from him. While the steering is janky as all get out, as he noted, it's a janky design that happens to work. BUT, I'm wanting to use standard issue Toyota parts to fix/upgrade this. The pump/reservoir that is currently on the Piggy is from a '76 (or '78) Chevelle as I recall. Not sure what the box is.

As it's SOA, I will definitely need a proper high steer kit to sort it out. Just started looking for an 80-specific kit... BUT, yeah, there's another butt... I'm thinking that I'm going to pull the axles from under my 62 and swap them over to Zeke... a wider stance (and very congressional of me... lol). Been following @Ol Yeller 's work on his Pig, and it's impressed the heck out of me.

Just in the planning stages now.

Today, totaled up the build cost for my wife's 80... I never should have done that... lol

I think it needs more flat washers when you do.
I don't stack dimes... I stack washers... lol.

Not quite sure who 120mm bought Zeke from, but I know that he didn't create that steering set-up. It came with the rig, and 120mm got it in good working order... but it needs to be sorted out as the shaft often catches on the bracket (where it's welded to the inner fender). No bueno.

I am delighted to see you considering unf*cking that abortion. I still don't believe how well it performs, especially with the stretched rag joint, which i replaced
lol! It’s going to happen. Just starting to organize parts (I’ve got an 80 series parts rig, so I should be able to pull most of what I need).

If you have a SBC, the canned ham Saginaw pump plays well with the 80 series box. I’ve used both SBC and LS versions on my 40. The 80 high pressure line can be persuaded to work as well.

Good Morning, Everyone.

Zeke is still waiting for attention. BUT, his time is coming soon.

Next week, heading over to a local shop (KYTLCA founder's place)... trading parts off of an LX450 that I scored as a parts vehicle... for Piggy parts. I'll grab some pics when the deal goes down.

Also have a good used 80 gearbox that will go on to Zeke.

Question... rather than building and welding up a new mounting bracket for the install on Zeke, I'm thinking that it would be less time consuming to cut the mounting bracket off of the donor LX450... and weld that into Zeke's frame. Does that make sense, or should I just bite the bullet and make a new bracket?

I believe that @Ol Yeller made one and it turned out beautifully.

By the time you get the geometry figured out so everything clears you'll end up needing a custom bracket anyway!
I figured that was going to be the case. Joking aside... thank you.

I've been looking at the Front Range Offroad high steer kits. Expensive, but likely worth it.

My plan is to start with body work... one section at a time, so that I can still drive the rig this summer. Steering is likely going to happen late summer/early fall.
