Getting ready to start on the ¼” rocker panels.

Anyone have an opinion on using two Enduro Joints between the shackle on the front of a traction bar as opposed to one joint and one bushing?

JMack,

Question... How did you get that nice curve on the 1/4" steel? I didn't build mine, but believe they are 1/4' also. Often thought about adding sliders underneath, just because. Look forward to your progress.

No opinion on the use of the joints, other than they look cool! :)

Looks like a press brake step bend.

Ron,

Just like the link Dave posted we bumped the arc with a press brake and matched the original rocker that is not a continuous radius, I’ll weld flat strips to complete the box before I install them. I built these to act like sliders and keep the stock appearance.

After dealing with these and the time it took to program the brake to match the arc in the original rocker a guy would be way better off just buying the BobM replacement rockers. The shop I had make these has 40 billable hours, making any benefit of the thicker panels hard to justify.

Why didn't you just go with the thicker IPOR rockers if thicker was what you were after? They advertise them as sliders -

I wasn’t aware you could still buy them.

I guess I should have asked…I know for next time, Thanks.

IPOR's, that's the ones I have. I couldn't remember where they came from.

Next time? One is enough.

Suffered a major setback with the polyurea coating not curing and exploring options now on how best to clean up this mess. :bang:

On a positive note I’ve been making headway on everything else..

I have not had time to read for a while - what were you coating w/ polyuria?

I was going to coat the entire thing with the exception of the outside painted surfaces with Sherwin-Williams EnviroLastic polyurea coating, if you look it up on the interwebs they use it for everything from bomb proofing vehicles and buildings to tank linings. It would have been neat to have the pig lined with this coating but unfortunately the kit I got had some drying issues so I’m moving on to plan-B.

Well I discovered a few things last night when welding my rockers on.

I’m getting old and this laying on your back welding upside down hurts more than I remember.

My old eyes can’t focus at the distance I’m able to get my head from the areas that need to be welded and my bifocals made it worse. I welded one spot six times and never actually joined the two pieces together, I did however create some very cool globular artwork next to the joint that needed to be welded.

I'm sure your welding beads look much nicer than mine. But that makes me feel better about my butt welding haha

LMAO. About rolled out of the chair thinking how I also relate to this!

Neat stuff! I really enjoy seeing what you come up with. Are you using that on both the front and rear?

Your setup reminds me of Finned sway bar links on race cars. Pretty cool idea!
