How fast have you taken your fj40 up to?

80-85 with de-smogged 2F and more to give. Prefer 60-65 in the right lane though.

What is up with the "upside-down" bezels in the commercial?

Had a friend's 40 based buggy on 39" Iroks at 85-90ish through the pass to Central City in Colorado. I'm sure the crisp January air at midnight helped power a little and made the trip without a heater, doors, or top interesting, gotta love night extractions. Didn't even realize it until the owner caught up in his other rig.

"7 man foam-seat comfort and cruise 85mph on the open road all day long"

(but we'll film the commercial with the cruiser in the right hand lane of what appears to be a major metropolitan freeway all the while getting passed by other early vintage vehicles, which I imagine are advertised to cruise at over 90mph all day long...)

And keep those feet up when crossing water...

Since we changed the speed limits to 70 mph, It might not be the safest vehicle on the freeway but it more then a fast tractor to the rest of the world.

We are lucky that we can play with the 40s as toys but that is a foreign concept to the rest of the world where these are used as daily drivers.
By the rest of the word I mean where majority of the land cruisers are.:bang:

Only 1 time 85 + on I 15 between Saint George Ut. & Mesquite Nv. on about a 4% grade normaly 65-70 Mph

did 90 in mine on the way to cruiser days back in 2005. my speedo was broke and my buddy in 100 series thought it would be funny to see if i could or would keep up.

I was up to 89 in mine according to the GPS, and the 350 was screaming. It is a rush to know that going that fast, SOA/35's, you will likely die if something goes wrong....but I like going fast on the edge, so that's fine with me....reminds me I'm alive! I cruise at 70-75 with no problem right around 3K.

Yup, done 85 once, Scary. I stick to 55 mostly.

If you hit 88mph do you see serious sh*t a la Dr. Emmett Brown??

could drive all day at 100mph, straight as a train!
bj43 with 13BT, h55f and 70 series axles...very stable,

not in the rain though :-)

these cars are definatly not made for driving fast..sold the 43 and am enjoying my bone stock 40 even more at 65mph...you just need to enjoy the ride...:steer:

I did 120 mph once while racing a friend in his Firebird down the Vancouver Island highway, literally decades ago, when I thought I was invincible. I won the race :)
SBC 350, muncie m22, 31" mud tires, stock suspension, no top on, and drum brakes all around. A buddy of mine who was riding shotgun left his finger marks in the dash pad, I think they still are there. He refuses to ride with me even 20 years later.

LOL!

LOL! This is funny! One of the funniest threads on mud! One of these days if I could get my Cruiser to cruise at 75 I'd be quite happy!

I did 135kmh once, back when I was 16 and my truck was stock. Thats is about 85ish. I have 2 km of straight stretch that I entered at 50mph, so I only picked up 35 in well over a mile. I thought the truck was on only its rear wheels as I could turn the steering wheel and nothing happened. i also thought the 2F was going to come through the hood. I never want to go that fast again in my 40.

The fastest I hit was 96mph on a slight downhill. Scary as hell with a 4 inch lift & 33s.

65 and I rebuilt my drum cylinders after almost getting thrown in the ditch . Left front doing nothing right side locking up nicely.
OK now and I feel alot safer on the road but still not going over 60 mph.

since I am not gung-ho on speeding tickets, I usually stick with the 65 that's customary around the Phoenix area :meh:

and yeah, I am not sure what I would feel comfortable with if I hadn't converted to disk brakes all around

I ditched the steering stabilizer after mangling the mounting bracket (), and steering is definitely more squirrely since
