Now the second PITA job is done.
This particular detail of the build has been the better part of a year in the making. I could write a book about this but I’ll save us all the agony and post some pics.

I do need to make mention that setting up the little MIG to weld stainless made the whole process of tacking pieces in place under the Cruiser really easy.

This pic that @NikP posted long ago in his build thread helped simplify my approach. Thank you Nik!
The other thing that helped was learning about pie cuts.
And then I bought the diffuser and cup that J Mack posted, which arrived several weeks after I’d already begun the TIG process. Made the best looking weld on the very last thing that needed welding.

Did the tack welding clamps help as much as you hoped?

Not as much as I’d hoped. They really didn’t work with the pie cut sections I made. I did use them tacking together a couple straight sections, and they ended up being useful for getting two pieces absolutely square - they will let you know if any part of your cut is off.
