Here’s another oddity I thought I’d post while it’s out in the open.
Anyone else have this T-nut welded in backwards on the core support face where the radiator mounts on the driver side? Couldn’t really tell what it was before.
I don’t think it was done by a PO.

I don't know, somebody might have broke a bolt and installed that instead of the right way.
Thought about that, but it isn’t one of the regular mounting holes, it’s in between them. And then the fact that it’s a T-nut and not a regular ol’ hex nut have me suspicious. Not everyone has T-nuts lying around.🤷🏻‍♂️
@WarDamnEagle , does yours have this?
@Ol Yeller ?

Not exactly. I do have two nutserts on each side though which were installed by a PO for my Champion radiator. I have a new OEM radiator that I will be using so these won't be needed.

Edit: FWIW that second OEM threaded hole from the top is not on the passenger side. So if you're asking if I have 4 original holes on the driver's side and 3 on the passenger, the answer is yes.

Whatever the case is, if you're not using it, get rid of it. It's an ugly bastard at best. :)

That one!
Doesn’t quite look like a T-nut, but it doesn’t belong there anyways.🤔

I'm not sure what it's for but it's exactly the same captive nut (I assume) as the other 6 OEM holes so it definitely came that way from the factory. I can unbox my OEM radiator and see if there's something there but the parts diagram is showing 3 bolts on each side only.

Odd though, if it's not used, that someone took the trouble to "repair" yours.

Well interesting; the OEM radiator has a cutout in the flange in that location.

Edit: Doh! Not sure that's the correct side. Probably not. I need to go look at it again.

Okay; apologies for any confusion. That (above photo) is the driver's side of the radiator but where the fan shroud connects. Fan shroud has 3 bolts on each side and that matching cutout on the driver's side. The OEM radiator mounting flange has 4, yes 4, bolt holes on the driver's side and 3 on the passenger side.

Apologies for the terrible photo but there is a hole in the middle of that side under all the tape.

Here’s some pics from the last week.
Took some PTO time this week to move this project along.
Truck bed coated the fender wells.
Beige paint on the top side.
Dark gray on the front. Hopefully looks good with the grill the same color.
Letting it dry for the next day or so before putting it back on for good.

Nice!

I’m in the same boat, no real progress without a break from daily life.

Yes. One day during the weekend isn’t cutting it. Really feeling the need to get this thing fired up and moving under its own power. I’m a couple years behind schedule according to some comments I’ve made.😏

While some of you are here chatting, I’m looking for suggestions for raised vent/breather locations for the axles, transmission and t-case.
I’ve searched several of the modified rig threads and have only seen the one pic Scrappy posted of a breather mounted on the left inside fender.
Ran some hoses for the transmission and t-case to the front of the firewall for possibly locating a little breather manifold for those and the front axle, but nothing is set in stone. Still haven’t made any decisions for the rear axle.
Any suggestions?
