What is the concern? The 1st pic with the area grinded? There is zero structural integrity in that area that i can see! I know you spent a 💩 load of work on this 🐷 and I'm not saying that you should or should'nt, but whats the end goal?? Show 🐷 or Hardcore driver 🐖??? Not saying to compromise on your goals!! Just saying don't ( another word i'm going stop using guess why?) Drive yourself Nuts over something that only you will know. Your 🐷 is a Top notch high end build that anyone would be proud to own. So is that worth the Stress 🧐🤔😥😳😉😘.
I think that if I cut that area out, nobody would even know except for those reading through this thread, and most of them will have forgotten all about it in a couple weeks.

Maybe I am missing something but the paint issue will not be seen. Why remove metal? Couldn’t you just sand or rough up the cracked area inside the cowl and repaint even if it doesn’t look perfect?

Buddy, this has nothing to do with anyone seeing this thread! It has to do with what you've accomplished and how proud you should be with where you are at 🧐🤔😉. Do you feel the need to fix that area is your perogitive. If you're Happy with your progress and just want to touch it up that's O.K. If you look at every ****ing inch of what you have done on this fine 👉🐖👈 you will never be done. Geez I hope ya paint it BLUE

Lots of water flows through that area. It HAS to be sealed up with something to prevent being rusted through and dumping water onto the floorboard. Cosmetically, it’s a non-issue.

I‘m 100% confident you can flow a product on there that will keep the weather out without cutting up the cowl, you reached it to sand…figure out a way to seal it up without cutting anything.

My $0.02

Racking my brain to come up with anything that would prevent having to cut anything out at this point. The paint in there was scraped out with a screwdriver - can’t really get in there to do any sanding.

Thought about that one too, Ron. The stuff I used was black.

Got plenty of that if you need, 360 degree spray

I am in the same boat here.
I may not be understanding the full significance of Rush's dilemma, but yeah...

No nut shot (pig or dog)???

Get all the failed area off (assuming you can) and use Corroseal on the area. You can come back and top coat that if you want or just leave it.

“Engine in” such a BIG step. Can’t wait to see this pig at the next PP!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
